What happens after I submit a proposal
What each status on the My Proposals tab means, from Pending Review to Hired, Declined, and Job closed, the actions an employer can take, and what you can do while you're waiting.
When you submit a proposal, it goes into the employer’s review queue for that job. You’ll see it on the My Proposals tab in your AI Trainer dashboard with the status Pending Review.
Use the All Proposals, Pending Review, and Declined tabs to filter the list.
What “Pending Review” means
Section titled “What “Pending Review” means”The employer or project team hasn’t made a decision yet. They may still be collecting proposals, shortlisting candidates, or waiting on AI screening answers from applicants. The proposal stays Pending Review until the employer takes one of these actions:
- Accept — a contract is created and your status moves to Hired.
- Decline — the proposal closes. You can apply to other jobs.
- Message — the employer asks a question. You’ll see the message in the Proposals tab.
If the employer closes the job before deciding, your proposal shows Job closed.
What each status means
Section titled “What each status means”| Status | What it means |
|---|---|
| Pending Review | Your proposal was submitted and is waiting for the employer or project team to review. OpenTrain can’t guarantee a response date. |
| Under Review | The employer or project team is reviewing your proposal and decides the next step. |
| Shortlisted | Your proposal is on the employer’s shortlist. This is not a hire yet. |
| Resume Sent | Your resume was shared for review. This is not a hire yet, and the employer or project team decides the next step. |
| Hired | The employer hired you for the job. |
| Declined | The employer declined your proposal. The proposal closes, and you can apply to other jobs. |
| Not a Fit | The employer or project team decided your proposal is not a fit for this job. You can apply to other jobs. |
| Job closed | This job posting has been closed or is no longer accepting applications. A proposal that was still waiting for the employer shows this status once the job closes. |
How long this takes
Section titled “How long this takes”Employers and project teams review proposals on their own timeline, and OpenTrain can’t guarantee a response date. You can keep applying to other jobs while you wait.
What you can do
Section titled “What you can do”- Make sure your profile is complete.
- Finish the AI interview if the job requires one.
- Keep your messages on the Proposals tab — that’s where the employer will reach you.
If a proposal has been Pending Review for an unusually long time and you’d like a hand looking into it, email support@opentrain.ai with the job link and a human on our team will pick it up.
