The role

You will lead Filipino/Tagalog language QA across OpenTrain projects: reviewing AI-generated Tagalog content and trainer/QA work, enforcing guideline adherence, and coaching contributors to improve quality, naturalness, and cultural appropriateness. This is an hourly, remote contractor role focused on hands-on language-quality leadership.

• Pay: $25 USD per hour.
• Time commitment: 20+ hours per week (part-time contractor).
• Employment: Contractor, part-time.
• Languages required: Filipino/Tagalog (native or near-native) and strong English for feedback.
• Eligible countries: Philippines, Saudi Arabia, United States (as listed).
• Data type: Text; label types: evaluation/rating and translation/localization.

What you'll do

• Spot-check and evaluate Filipino/Tagalog items for accuracy, fluency, grammar, spelling, tone, register, and cultural appropriateness.
• Assess meaning preservation, translation fidelity, instruction-following, formatting, and adherence to project rubrics.
• Provide clear, precise written feedback in English to trainers and QAs on errors, edge cases, and improvement steps.
• Communicate project updates, guideline changes, and quality expectations to trainers and QAs via Discord and other channels.
• Create and maintain Tagalog project documentation: style guides, FAQs, trackers, honeypots, and onboarding materials.
• Run training calls to explain workflows, expectations, and rubric interpretation to contributors.
• DM and follow up with inactive contributors to encourage activation and flag availability issues.
• Identify recurring quality gaps and propose process improvements to scale QA effectively.

Requirements

• Native or near-native Filipino/Tagalog proficiency with strong reading and writing skills.
• Strong command of English to follow guidelines and provide written feedback.
• 3+ years of professional experience in Filipino/Tagalog writing, editing, translation, localization, content QA, AI training, education, annotation, or related language-review workflows.
• Deep understanding of Tagalog grammar, spelling, punctuation, tone, register, and cultural context.
• Ability to evaluate content against detailed rubrics and spot mistranslation, unnatural tone, incorrect code-switching (Taglish), hallucinations, ambiguity, or inconsistent terminology.
• High attention to detail and strong organizational skills for maintaining guides, trackers, and quality documentation.
• Comfortable working in fast-moving remote environments using tools such as Discord, Google Sheets, Google Docs, trackers, dashboards, and project management systems.

Preferred background

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Filipino/Tagalog, Linguistics, Translation, Communications, Journalism, Education, QA, or a related field.
• Experience leading or supporting remote teams of trainers, annotators, reviewers, editors, or QAs.
• Experience with AI training, data annotation, large language models, prompt/response evaluation, or rubric-based LLM QA.
