  • Centralized profile to showcase AI training experience and past work
  • Opportunities to build long-term freelance careers in a fast-growing industry

About AI training work

AI training (data labeling, annotation, and evaluation) is the human layer behind modern AI. Contributors prepare, review, and rate language outputs that models learn from, shaping how AI systems understand and generate language.

This role focuses on Spanish/English translation, localization, and evaluation—work that is accessible, remote, and often flexible, while placing you at the cutting edge of how language models are built.

  • Work is 100% remote and typically flexible around your schedule
  • Many projects need domain knowledge or language skill more than formal AI experience

The role

You will review AI-generated Spanish and English outputs, create model solutions when needed, score responses for accuracy and clarity, and apply senior Spanish localization judgment. Tasks include diagnosing reasoning errors and ensuring terminology, tone, and cultural nuance are consistent.

Labeling work includes evaluation ratings, text generation, and question-answering tasks on text data.

  • Job type: Contractor, part-time
  • Labeling: EVALUATION_RATING, TEXT_GENERATION, QUESTION_ANSWERING on TEXT data

What you'll do

  • Review and evaluate AI-generated Spanish and English outputs for accuracy, clarity, and reasoning quality
  • Create language content and model solutions when needed to demonstrate correct methods
  • Fact-check references, names, dates, units, and other claims in localized content
  • Identify errors in methodology, conceptual understanding, and prompt adherence
  • Apply Spanish localization judgment, MQM, and LQA concepts to terminology, style, and cultural nuance
  • Compare multiple responses and rate them by correctness and overall quality

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Translation, Linguistics, Localization, Communications, or a related field
  • Native or near-native Spanish proficiency with strong command of Spain locale conventions
  • Minimum C1 English proficiency for reading, writing, and evaluation work
  • 5+ years of professional localization or translation experience
  • Experience with MQM/LQA concepts, CAT tools, translation memory, termbases, and QA workflows
  • Strong editorial judgment, attention to detail, and reliable fact-checking habits
  • Previous AI data training, annotation, or evaluation experience is preferred

Helpful background

  • Experience with terminology management, style guides, copyediting, and linguistic QA
  • Comfort working as an hourly contractor with dependable throughput and clear documentation
  • Experience handling translation review, localization decisions, and culturally nuanced writing

Schedule, location, and pay

This is hourly contractor work, expected at 20+ hours per week. The role is fully remote; location requirements may vary by country variant. OpenTrain accepts candidates in Mexico (MX), Spain (ES), and the United States (US) per the listing.

Pay is hourly (PAY_PER_HOUR) at USD $25–$35 per hour depending on experience and assignment.

  • Minimum weekly commitment: 20+ hours
  • Countries listed in posting: MX, ES, US (location requirements may vary)
