About AI training work

AI training (also called data labeling or human feedback) is the human work that teaches modern models to understand language, follow instructions, and produce culturally appropriate responses. These roles are frequently remote, flexible, and accessible—many projects need strong language skills rather than prior technical experience.

The role

OpenTrain is recruiting a Telugu Quality Assurance Lead to oversee quality, consistency, and trainer performance across Telugu AI training projects. You will review AI-generated Telugu content and trainer QA work, evaluate output against project rubrics, deliver written feedback, and keep contributors aligned with project standards.

• Focus on Telugu language quality, localization review, translation fidelity, and cultural appropriateness.
• Work as a remote contractor in a part-time, leadership-oriented QA role.

What you'll do

• Review Telugu AI-generated content and trainer QA for accuracy, fluency, grammar, spelling, tone, formatting, and meaning preservation.
• Evaluate outputs against detailed rubrics and provide clear, actionable written feedback.
• Identify recurring quality issues, escalate critical problems, and propose improvements.
• Maintain style guides, trackers, FAQs, honeypots, examples, and onboarding materials.
• Run onboarding and training calls to explain workflows, rubrics, and Telugu-specific style rules.
• Share project updates, workflow changes, and quality expectations with trainers and QAs.
• Support contributor activation, follow-up, and engagement to keep quality steady.

Requirements

This role requires deep Telugu language expertise plus strong English communication for team coordination and documentation. You must be able to evaluate subtle translation and style issues and guide contributors to meet detailed project rubrics.

• Native or near-native Telugu proficiency with strong reading and writing skills.
• Strong English communication skills for guidelines, feedback, and coordination.
• Strong understanding of Telugu grammar, punctuation, tone, register, regional variation, and cultural context.
• Experience in Telugu writing, editing, translation, localization, content QA, AI training, annotation, or related language-review workflows.
• Ability to identify mistranslation, literal phrasing, unnatural tone, hallucinated claims, ambiguity, and inconsistent terminology.
• Experience leading or supporting remote teams of trainers, annotators, reviewers, editors, or QAs is strongly preferred.
• This posting is intermediate level and expects 20+ hours per week availability.

Helpful background

• Degree in Telugu, Linguistics, Translation, Communications, Journalism, Education, or related fields is helpful but not required.
• Experience with Google Sheets, Google Docs, trackers, dashboards, or project management tools.
• Familiarity with AI training concepts (RLHF, rubric-based evaluation, model response review) and evaluation rating workflows.

Pay, location, and logistics

This is a remote contractor role with part-time hours. OpenTrain is hiring contributors located in India, the United States, and the United Arab Emirates.

• Hourly rate: up to $25 per hour.
• Time commitment: 20+ hours per week (part-time, contractor).
• Hiring locations: India (IN), United States (US), United Arab Emirates (AE).
• Work focuses on TEXT data and label types including evaluation ratings and RLHF-style review.
