The role

OpenTrain is hiring a Tamil Quality Assurance Lead to oversee quality and consistency across Tamil AI training projects. This is a remote, part-time contractor role requiring 20+ hours per week. You will evaluate AI-generated Tamil text, review trainer and QA submissions, and help contributors meet project standards.

What you'll do

• Review Tamil AI-generated content and trainer/QA submissions for accuracy, fluency, grammar, spelling, tone, cultural appropriateness, meaning preservation, instruction-following, and formatting.
• Evaluate output against project rubrics and provide clear, actionable written feedback to contributors.
• Escalate recurring quality issues and help align contributors on evolving guidelines.
• Support onboarding and training calls for trainers and QAs to raise baseline quality.
• Create and maintain style guides, trackers, FAQs, examples, honeypots, and other quality documentation.
• Identify recurring gaps and help build scalable QA processes and workflows for Tamil projects.

Required qualifications

• Native or near-native Tamil reading and writing ability with strong written skills.
• Strong English communication skills for writing feedback and coordinating with the team.
• Deep understanding of Tamil grammar, spelling, tone, register, regional variation, and cultural context.
• Experience evaluating translation quality, localization, or rubric-based language QA.
• Background in Tamil writing, editing, translation, localization, content QA, or related language-review work.
• Experience leading or supporting remote teams of trainers, reviewers, editors, or QAs is strongly preferred.
• Able to work 20+ hours per week and participate in remote training and coordination.

Helpful background and tools

• Degree or coursework in Tamil, Linguistics, Translation, Communications, Journalism, Education, or related fields is helpful but not required.
• Familiarity with Google Sheets, Google Docs, trackers, dashboards, Discord, and common project-management tools.
• Prior experience with AI training, data annotation, large language models, prompt/response evaluation, or RLHF-style tasks is a plus.
