The Role

OpenTrain is hiring a Tamil Quality Assurance Lead to oversee quality and consistency across Tamil AI training projects. As a remote, part-time contractor, you will review AI-generated Tamil content as well as trainer and QA submissions, evaluate work against project guidelines, write precise feedback, and help contributors meet standards for language quality and instruction-following.

This role is suited to an intermediate-level language professional with strong Tamil and English communication skills, experience in translation quality, localization, or language QA, and a detailed understanding of Tamil linguistic and cultural context.

What You’ll Do

You will help maintain reliable, scalable quality processes for Tamil-language AI training work. The role combines hands-on review, written coaching, documentation, contributor support, and ongoing process improvement.

• Review Tamil AI training content and trainer or QA submissions for quality issues and rubric adherence.
• Evaluate accuracy, fluency, grammar, spelling, tone, register, cultural appropriateness, meaning preservation, instruction-following, and formatting.
• Provide written feedback, escalate recurring problems, and help align contributors with changing guidelines.
• Support onboarding and training calls for trainers and QAs.
• Maintain style guides, trackers, FAQs, examples, honeypots, and other quality documentation.
• Identify recurring gaps and help build scalable QA workflows for Tamil-language projects.

Required Skills and Experience

Applicants should have native or near-native Tamil reading and writing ability, along with strong English communication for understanding project guidelines, providing feedback, and coordinating with the team. You should be comfortable making consistent, rubric-based judgments about Tamil language quality.

• Native or near-native Tamil proficiency with strong reading and writing skills.
• Strong English communication skills for project guidelines, feedback, and team coordination.
• Deep understanding of Tamil grammar, spelling, tone, register, regional variation, and cultural context.
• Experience evaluating translation quality, localization, or rubric-based language QA.
• Background in Tamil writing, editing, translation, localization, content QA, or related language-review work.
• Ability to judge grammar, tone, register, cultural appropriateness, and meaning preservation in Tamil.
• Experience supporting trainers, reviewers, or QAs on remote workflows.

• Degree in Tamil, Linguistics, Translation, Communications, Journalism, English, Education, Quality Assurance, or a related field.
• Experience leading or supporting remote teams of trainers, reviewers, editors, or QAs.
• Familiarity with Discord, Google Sheets, Google Docs, trackers, dashboards, and project management tools.
• Experience with AI training, data annotation, large language models, or prompt and response evaluation.
