Why AI training work matters
AI training (data labeling and annotation) is how modern AI systems learn: people prepare, review, and rate examples that teach models to understand language, images, audio, and more. This work is accessible, often remote and flexible, and puts contributors on the cutting edge of how state-of-the-art systems behave.
The role
OpenTrain AI is hiring a Ukrainian Quality Assurance Lead to review AI-generated Ukrainian content and evaluate trainer QA across Ukrainian-language projects. This is a remote contractor, part-time role requiring 20+ hours per week. You will ensure outputs meet project rubrics, maintain style guides, support trainers and QAs, and help scale QA processes for Ukrainian workflows.
What you'll do
Evaluate Ukrainian AI outputs for accuracy, fluency, grammar, spelling, tone, cultural appropriateness, meaning preservation, instruction-following, and formatting.
Score outputs against detailed rubrics (evaluation/rating tasks) and provide concise, actionable written feedback to trainers and contributors.
Spot recurring quality issues and communicate guideline updates to trainers, QAs, and contributors.
Answer contributor questions about Ukrainian wording, translation fidelity, register, terminology, and edge cases.
Support onboarding, training calls, and documentation; activate or coach contributors who are not working consistently.
Maintain and evolve style guides, example sets, and QA documentation to keep quality consistent across distributed teams.
Identify workflow improvements and help build scalable QA processes for Ukrainian-language projects.
Requirements
Native or near-native Ukrainian proficiency with strong reading and writing skills.
Strong English skills for clear project communication and written feedback.
Experience in Ukrainian writing, editing, translation, localization, content QA, AI training, education, annotation, or related language-review workflows.
Deep knowledge of Ukrainian grammar, spelling, punctuation, declension, gender agreement, tone, register, and cultural context.
Comfort working with remote teams and common collaboration tools (Discord, Google Sheets, Google Docs, trackers, dashboards, project management systems).
Ability to evaluate content against detailed rubrics and spot mistranslation or inconsistent terminology.
Prior experience leading or supporting trainers, annotators, reviewers, editors, or QAs is strongly preferred.
Preferred background
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Ukrainian, Linguistics, Translation, Communications, Journalism, Education, Quality Assurance, or a related field.
Experience with AI training, data annotation, large language models, prompt/response evaluation, or rubric-based LLM QA is a plus.
Compensation, schedule, and locations
This is an hourly contractor role. Advertised rates vary by location (description notes up to $25/hr or up to $30/hr depending on location); the listing provides up to $30/hour. The role expects 20+ hours per week and is part-time contract work.
OpenTrain is hiring contributors located in Moldova, Kazakhstan, the United States, Poland, Canada, and Ukraine. Work is fully remote.
How to apply and next steps
Create or update your OpenTrain profile and apply to this role through the platform. Selected applicants will complete onboarding, training calls, and contributor activation; you'll work with trainers and QAs to learn project rubrics and documentation before evaluating and scoring content.
