About AI training and why this work matters

AI training (data labeling, annotation, and human feedback) is the human side of building AI. Contributors create and review examples that teach models to write, translate, and reason correctly—work that is remote, flexible, and accessible without formal tech credentials.

As a Malay QA lead you will directly influence how Malay-language AI behaves—improving fluency, cultural appropriateness, and consistency across training data and reviewer outputs.

The role

We are recruiting a Malay Quality Assurance Lead to review Malay AI-generated content and trainer or QA work, check outputs against project guidelines and rubrics, and provide precise written feedback to improve quality, clarity, and consistency.

You will monitor Malay training workflows, spot recurring issues, support onboarding and documentation, and help align contributors on language standards, formatting, tone, and cultural appropriateness.

• Role type: Remote contractor, part-time (CONTRACTOR, PART_TIME).
• Expected time commitment: 20+ hours/week.
• Data type: Text; Labeling types: evaluation rating and RLHF-style review.

What you'll do day-to-day

• Review Malay AI-generated content and trainer/QA submissions for accuracy, fluency, grammar, spelling, tone, meaning preservation, formatting, and instruction-following.
• Provide clear, actionable written feedback to trainers and reviewers; escalate recurring or critical quality issues.
• Communicate project updates, workflow changes, and quality expectations to contributors.
• Support onboarding with documentation, style guides, FAQs, trackers, examples, honeypots, and quality notes.
• Help refine and scale QA processes for Malay-language workflows to improve consistency and throughput.

Requirements and qualifications

We need candidates who can evaluate Malay content precisely and coordinate with an English-speaking project team.

• Native or near-native Malay proficiency with strong reading and writing skills.
• Strong English communication skills for clear feedback and team coordination.
• Background in Malay writing, editing, translation, localization, content QA, or AI training-language review workflows.
• Deep knowledge of Malay grammar, spelling conventions, punctuation, tone, register, formal/informal usage, and cultural context.
• Ability to evaluate content against detailed rubrics and handle language variation and code-switching when required.
• Experience supporting remote reviewers, editors, or QAs is strongly preferred.
• Experience level: Intermediate.

Schedule, pay, location, and next steps

This is a remote contractor role based in Malaysia. Expect to work 20+ hours per week on a part-time contractor basis.

Compensation: up to $25 USD per hour (hourly rate shown: $25/hr). OpenTrain handles contracting and project coordination.
