About AI training work
AI training (data labeling/annotation) is the human side of building modern AI: people teach models by reviewing outputs, creating example answers, and rating quality. This work is remote, often flexible, and a direct way to shape how cutting-edge systems behave.
Many projects require language expertise rather than prior coding experience, so linguists, translators, editors, and writers are in high demand for tasks like the role below.
The role
We are recruiting a Filipino (Tagalog) Language Review Specialist to evaluate AI-generated Tagalog content, produce gold-standard reference answers, and write clear, actionable feedback. This is an hourly contractor position for candidates based in the Philippines focused on Tagalog language quality and safety.
What you'll do
Review and improve AI-generated Filipino/Tagalog outputs for accuracy, fluency, grammar, spelling, tone, and cultural appropriateness.
Create high-quality Tagalog reference content and model answers across common domains to serve as gold standards.
Compare multiple AI responses and rate overall quality using rubrics, including fluency, fidelity, structure, tone, and safety.
Flag unsupported claims, factual errors, bias, and policy-risk language when present.
Write clear feedback in English and/or Tagalog that explains issues and offers concrete fixes or rewrites.
Produce safe rewrites and model answers that preserve meaning and maintain appropriate register and cultural fit.
Requirements
Native or near-native Filipino/Tagalog reading and writing ability.
Strong professional English proficiency for detailed written feedback.
Bachelor’s degree in Linguistics, Filipino, English Literature, Communications, Journalism, Translation, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
Background in writing, editing, localization, translation, content QA, journalism, education, or similar language-focused work.
Deep command of Filipino/Tagalog grammar, spelling, punctuation, style, tone, and cultural context.
Comfort using formal and informal registers and handling Taglish appropriately for target audiences.
Attention to detail for subtle meaning shifts, hallucinated claims, and culturally mismatched phrasing.
Ability to explain grammar, spelling, register, and tone issues in Tagalog clearly.
Experience reviewing translations for meaning preservation and cultural fit, and evaluating AI outputs for fluency, safety, and hallucinations.
Helpful background
Prior experience with AI data training, translation QA, editorial QA, or rubric-based evaluation is strongly preferred.
Experience creating prompts and gold-standard answers and familiarity with evaluation rubrics and quality ranking.
Experience working remotely as an hourly contractor across time zones is helpful.
Logistics, hours, and compensation
This is a remote, hourly contractor role open to applicants based in the Philippines. The role expects 20+ hours per week and is classified as part-time/contractor work.
Pay is $20 per hour. Headcount across countries: 100.
