About AI Training Work

  • Contribute to the development of language-focused AI systems
  • Flexible part-time work that can fit around other commitments
  • Apply specialist language knowledge to structured data tasks

The Role

OpenTrain AI is seeking a native Malay speaker for dictionary proofreading. You will determine whether words are Malay, correct spelling where needed, and review pronunciations according to a specified phoneme set.

This is an expert-level contractor and part-time project. The project is expected to end in July, and contributors must be able to dedicate at least 3 hours per day during the project period.

  • Role: Native Malay Speaker and Dictionary Proofreader
  • Work type: Part-time contract
  • Location: Malaysia
  • Languages: Malay and English
  • Availability: At least 3 hours per day, with 20 or more hours per week preferred
  • Project timeline: Expected to end in July

What You'll Do

You will review dictionary entries for Malay language accuracy and make corrections when required. Pronunciation must be checked against the project's specified phoneme set, including identifying and correcting inaccurate phoneme sequences.

For example, you may review entries such as “polifonik,” “poligami,” and “poliglot,” then correct spelling or pronunciation representations that do not match the expected Malay form or phoneme conventions.

  • Determine whether individual words are Malay
  • Correct misspelled Malay dictionary entries
  • Proofread pronunciation transcriptions
  • Apply the specified phoneme set consistently
  • Maintain at least 97% accuracy
  • Redo work when spot checks identify items below the required accuracy

Requirements and Compensation

Candidates must be native Malay speakers with sufficient availability for the project. You must also pass a qualification test before beginning task work.

Compensation is listed as 6 USD per 1,000 words. The project information also lists a fixed-price amount of 100 USD; final payment details should be confirmed during the contracting process.

  • Native Malay speaker
  • Strong command of Malay spelling and pronunciation
  • Ability to work accurately with phoneme-based pronunciation data
  • At least 3 hours of availability per day during the project
  • 20 or more hours per week preferred
  • Successful completion of a pre-project test
  • Required accuracy: 97%

How Quality Is Evaluated

Work will be reviewed through spot checks. If checked items do not meet the required accuracy level, the non-compliant work must be redone. Careful attention to spelling, word classification, and phoneme details is essential.

  • Quality checks are performed through spot reviews
  • Work below the 97% accuracy requirement may require rework
  • Consistent adherence to the specified phoneme set is required
