About AI training and this work

AI training (data labeling / annotation / human feedback) is the human work behind how models learn. Tasks range from rating model outputs to editing language content and maintaining guidelines. This role focuses on Malayalam-language quality assurance for text-based, RLHF-style projects.

• You’ll directly influence model behavior by ensuring cultural accuracy, fluency, and adherence to project rubrics.
• Many contributors start with entry or intermediate roles and expand into leadership, process, or localization work.

The role

OpenTrain AI is hiring a Malayalam Quality Assurance Lead to review AI-generated Malayalam content and trainer QA work, provide written feedback, maintain documentation, and support onboarding and process improvement.

• Schedule: 20+ hours per week (part-time contractor).
• Pay: USD $30.00 per hour.
• Work type: Contractor, part-time, remote.
• Languages required: Malayalam (ml) and English (en).
• Allowed countries: QA, SA, AE, IN (not worldwide).

What you'll do day to day

• Review Malayalam items and trainer QA submissions for accuracy, fluency, grammar, spelling, tone, meaning preservation, formatting, and rubric adherence.
• Provide clear, constructive written feedback to trainers and QAs across remote workflows.
• Maintain and update style guides, FAQs, trackers, examples, and honeypots to keep quality consistent.
• Support onboarding and training sessions for new trainers and QAs.
• Track recurring issues, follow up on activations, and propose workflow or documentation improvements.

Requirements

• Native or near-native Malayalam proficiency with strong reading and writing ability.
• Strong English communication skills for writing guidelines, feedback, and coordinating with remote teams.
• Experience in Malayalam writing, editing, translation, localization, content QA, AI training, or related language review work.
• Comfort using remote collaboration tools and organized documentation practices.
• Experience level: Intermediate.

How the work is paid and performed

This role focuses on text data and uses evaluation/rating and RLHF workflows. You will work as a contractor and receive USD $30/hour for time worked; the assignment requires at least 20 hours per week. OpenTrain handles hiring and contracting for this position.
