About OpenTrain

OpenTrain is the #1 platform for finding and building careers in AI training and data labeling. We help people discover specialized projects, consolidate opportunities, and build a professional portfolio that showcases AI training work.

We hire and manage projects directly through the platform so contributors get clear pay, flexible schedules, and a way to grow a durable freelance career in the fast-growing AI training industry.

Why AI training and localization matters

AI models learn from human examples and judgments. Localization and language evaluation ensure models speak naturally, safely, and accurately for real users in different countries and cultural contexts.

As a Hindi localization expert you will directly influence how models generate Hindi, fix culturally sensitive errors, and raise the overall quality of AI behavior for India-focused use cases.

The role

You will work as a contractor on OpenTrain to evaluate, correct, and generate Hindi model outputs. This is a remote, hourly role requiring senior-level localization judgment and strong bilingual fluency.

Work is part-time (20+ hours per week) and focused on text tasks including writing model responses, rating output quality, and applying formal error typologies to make consistent quality decisions.

  • Employment type: Contractor, Part-time
  • Location: India only (remote)
  • Hours: 20+ hours/week
  • Data type: Text; label types include prompt-response writing (SFT) and evaluation/rating

What you'll do day-to-day

Use your localization expertise to review AI-generated Hindi responses for accuracy, tone, register, cultural nuance, and reasoning quality. Produce high-quality reference responses and explanatory solutions.

Apply MQM/LQA concepts and error typology to classify and justify quality decisions, fact-check localized content (units, names, dates), and identify methodological or conceptual mistakes in model outputs.

  • Review and rate model responses for correctness and reasoning quality
  • Write and edit Hindi reference outputs and detailed explanations
  • Flag cultural or contextual errors and propose corrections
  • Use CAT tools and QA workflows to manage and document work

Requirements

This role requires professional localization experience, strong bilingual skills, and formal quality-assurance knowledge. You must be able to interpret English prompts and evaluation guidelines while producing native-level Hindi content.

All listed requirements come from the project brief and are required for consideration.

  • Native or near-native Hindi proficiency with India locale conventions
  • Minimum C1 English proficiency
  • 5+ years professional localization/translation experience
  • Demonstrated ability to apply MQM/LQA error typology
  • Proficiency with CAT tools and QA workflows
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Translation, Linguistics, Localization, or related field
  • Excellent editorial judgment for register, tone, inclusivity, and cultural nuance

Helpful background

Prior experience with AI training, annotation, or evaluation is a plus but not required. Multilingual localization experience will help you move faster in multilingual tasks and cross-check translations.

You will be working with evaluation and SFT-style writing tasks, so familiarity with prompt-response workflows is beneficial.

  • Previous AI data training or annotation experience (helpful)
  • Multilingual localization experience (helpful)

Pay, application, and how it works

Pay: $20.00 USD per hour (rate range listed: $5–$20/hr). This is hourly, contractor pay paid through OpenTrain.

  • Languages required: Hindi (hi) and English (en)
  • Work limited to contributors based in India
  • Tasks: text-based prompt-response writing and evaluation/rating
