The Role

OpenTrain is seeking a German Speech Data Annotation Expert to support German audio collection, speech annotation, and language-output evaluation. You will use native German fluency, knowledge of phonetics, and sensitivity to regional accents to help improve language understanding and pronunciation in advanced AI systems.

The work combines hands-on audio contribution with precise linguistic review and written documentation. This is an entry-level, part-time contractor role requiring a commitment of 20 or more hours per week.

What You'll Do

You will contribute to speech data workflows and maintain consistent quality across assigned tasks. Your evaluations and documentation will help identify issues with pronunciation, language understanding, and regional language variation.

• Record clear, high-quality German audio samples for AI model development
• Annotate speech data using precise linguistic and phonetic judgments
• Contribute to speech data collection processes
• Evaluate AI-generated language outputs for pronunciation and language understanding
• Apply knowledge of German phonetics, pronunciation, regional accents, and linguistic nuances
• Document observations clearly and communicate quality findings
• Work independently and maintain quality in a remote environment

Requirements

Native German fluency and deep familiarity with regional accents and language nuances are required. You should understand German phonetics, pronunciation, and core linguistic principles, and be able to make careful judgments about spoken language.

The role also requires experience recording audio or collecting speech data, precision in speech annotation, and a quality-focused approach to documentation.
