About OpenTrain
OpenTrain is the centralized, open platform where AI training and data-labeling freelancers find work, consolidate opportunities across platforms, and build a unified AI training portfolio they control. We make specialized AI training work easier to track, apply for, and grow into a durable freelance career.

About this role
OpenTrain is recruiting a German Audio Transcriptionist to create accurate, verbatim transcripts of German-language recordings used to improve how AI systems understand spoken language. You will work with real-world audio that may include crosstalk, background noise, filled pauses, incomplete utterances, non-verbal sounds, dialect cues, and multiple simultaneous speakers. This contract opportunity is intended for German specialists who can apply detailed transcription conventions with care and consistency.

What you will do
Listen to German-language audio and produce precise verbatim transcriptions. Distinguish and identify speakers throughout each recording. Capture filler words, non-verbal sounds, incomplete utterances, and other spoken-language phenomena. Follow style and formatting guidelines consistently. Maintain accuracy when working with noisy or challenging recordings. Work independently and asynchronously with web-based tools.

Required skills
Native or near-native fluency in German, including strong written German. Exceptional listening skills for difficult, noisy, or overlapping speech. Careful attention to spelling, punctuation, formatting, and detail. Ability to work independently and reliably. Comfort using web-based tools and following task guidelines. Authorization to work as an independent contractor in the United States. Prior AI experience is not required.

Helpful background
Professional transcription, court reporting, stenography, subtitling, closed-captioning, media post-production, linguistics, German-language studies, annotation workflows, or audio-editing tools may be helpful. Knowledge of German regional dialects and colloquial speech is also valuable.

Why work with OpenTrain
OpenTrain gives freelancers one place to manage AI training opportunities instead of rebuilding proof of work on every platform. A stronger OpenTrain profile helps you show credible experience, discover roles that match your skills, and turn AI training and data-labeling work into a long-term portfolio.
