About OpenTrain

OpenTrain is the #1 platform for people building careers in AI training and data labeling. We help contributors discover projects, build a unified portfolio, and grow into durable freelance careers teaching AI.

OpenTrain AI is the hiring and contracting organization for this role. We make specialized AI training work easier to track, apply for, and grow into long-term freelance opportunities.

Why AI training and localization matter

AI systems learn from examples prepared and reviewed by people. Language specialists ensure models understand nuance, preserve meaning, and behave appropriately for speakers of specific languages and cultures.

This role puts you on the front line of how Bulgarian-language AI behaves: your reviews, guidance, and quality controls directly shape model outputs used across many applications.

The role: Bulgarian Quality Assurance Lead

We are hiring an expert Bulgarian QA Lead to review Bulgarian AI-generated text and trainer/QAs' work, enforce project rubrics, and support a small, remote team of contributors. This is a part-time contractor role for residents of Bulgaria.

You will evaluate content for accuracy, fluency, grammar, spelling, tone, cultural appropriateness, meaning preservation, instruction-following, and formatting, then provide clear, written feedback and coaching.

What you’ll do

Daily work focuses on evaluation, feedback, documentation, and contributor support. Expect to split time between reviewing samples, updating quality materials, and communicating with trainers and QAs.

  • Review Bulgarian content and trainer/QA work for quality, consistency, and rubric adherence.
  • Provide precise written feedback on accuracy, fluency, grammar, spelling, tone, and cultural fit.
  • Maintain and update style guides, trackers, FAQs, examples, honeypots, and onboarding materials.
  • Communicate workflow changes, quality expectations, and answers to contributor questions.
  • Help run onboarding and training calls for trainers and QAs and support activation of inconsistent contributors.
  • Identify recurring quality gaps and propose workflow or rubric improvements.

Requirements

Candidates must be native or near-native Bulgarian speakers with strong written and reading ability in Bulgarian and good command of English. This role requires deep knowledge of Bulgarian language conventions and experience evaluating language work.

  • Native or near-native Bulgarian proficiency; strong reading and writing skills.
  • Fluent English (able to read guidelines and communicate feedback in English).
  • Strong understanding of Bulgarian grammar, spelling, punctuation, Cyrillic script, tone, register, word order, aspect, definiteness, and cultural context.
  • Experience in Bulgarian writing, editing, translation, localization QA, content QA, or AI training / LLM evaluation workflows.
  • Comfort using Discord, Google Sheets, Google Docs, trackers/dashboards, and project management tools.
  • Ability to write clear, rubric-based feedback and maintain quality documentation.

Preferred qualifications

Preferred candidates have prior experience leading or supporting remote language teams, designing style guides, or running onboarding sessions for contributors.

  • Experience leading or supporting remote teams or running training/onboarding calls.
  • Background in localization QA, translation QA, or LLM evaluation and feedback writing.

Compensation, schedule, and how to apply

This is a contractor, part-time role for residents of Bulgaria. Minimum expected commitment is 20+ hours per week.

Pay is hourly at USD 25.00. Work will focus on TEXT data with evaluation_rating tasks.

If you meet the requirements and want to shape Bulgarian-language AI, apply through OpenTrain. OpenTrain AI will contract successful applicants and provide project materials and onboarding.
