About AI training and this work

AI training (also called data labeling or annotation) is the human side of building intelligent systems. Contributors prepare and evaluate examples—translating, rating, editing, and reviewing content—so models learn accurate, fluent, and culturally appropriate language.

This role focuses on Assamese-language QA: ensuring AI-generated Assamese text and trainer/QAs meet project rubrics for accuracy, fluency, tone, register, and cultural fit.

The role

We are hiring an Assamese Quality Assurance Lead to review Assamese AI training content and trainer/QA submissions, provide precise written feedback, maintain documentation, and support contributor onboarding and activation.

You will evaluate text (label type: evaluation/rating) against detailed rubrics, spot recurring issues, escalate critical problems, and propose workflow improvements that strengthen Assamese QA operations.

What you'll do

• Review Assamese AI training content and trainer/QA submissions for accuracy, fluency, grammar, spelling, tone, formatting, and meaning preservation.
• Evaluate content against project rubrics and give clear, actionable written feedback in Assamese and English when needed.
• Spot recurring quality issues, document examples, and escalate critical problems to project leads.
• Respond to contributor questions about wording, register, translation fidelity, cultural context, and edge cases.
• Maintain and update style guides, FAQs, trackers, onboarding materials, examples, and quality notes.
• Support onboarding and training calls for contributors and help keep contributors active and aligned with workflow expectations.
• Propose and implement workflow improvements to strengthen Assamese QA operations and contributor performance.

Requirements

You must be native or near-native in Assamese for reading and writing, and have strong English communication skills for project guidelines and feedback. The role requires detailed language judgment and clear written explanations.

• Experience in Assamese writing, editing, translation, localization, content QA, annotation, AI training, education, or related language-review work.
• Strong knowledge of Assamese grammar, spelling conventions, punctuation, tone, register, and cultural context.
• Ability to evaluate work against detailed rubrics and identify mistranslation, literal phrasing, unnatural tone, hallucinated claims, ambiguity, or inconsistent terminology.
• Comfort using Discord, Google Sheets, Google Docs, trackers, dashboards, and project management tools.
• Experience supporting remote teams of trainers, annotators, reviewers, editors, or QAs is preferred.

Helpful background

The following are not required but will help you succeed and move faster in the role.

• Degree in Assamese, Linguistics, Translation, Communications, Journalism, Education, or a related field.
• Experience with AI training concepts, LLM evaluation, rubric-based QA, or prompt/response evaluation.
• Familiarity with style guides, honeypots, FAQs, onboarding documentation, and QA trackers.

Schedule, pay, and location

This is a remote contractor, part-time role. OpenTrain hires contractors directly for short-term projects and ongoing work.

Hiring countries: Bhutan, Bangladesh, and India. Estimated workload is about 20 hours per week with an estimated duration of 1–3 months.
