About AI training work

AI training is the human side of model development: people create, edit and rate examples that teach models to respond accurately and naturally. Writing tasks for LLMs include drafting prompts and replies, refining AI outputs, and producing diverse, culturally authentic language samples.

This role focuses on creative written responses that improve conversational AI: your writing will directly influence how chatbots speak, answer, and connect with Spanish-speaking users in the United States.

The role

We are hiring a Spanish Creative Writer (contract, part-time) to craft and refine dialogue and responses for LLM chatbot training. This is a remote role for candidates who currently live in the United States and have lived in the U.S. full-time for at least 5 years.

Compensation: $25 USD per hour. Employment type: Contractor, part-time. Hours: flexible with a minimum expectation of 10 hours/week and a preferred commitment of 20+ hours/week.

What you'll do

Create authentic, culturally relevant Spanish responses from prompts and improve model-generated text to make conversations feel natural, accurate, and engaging.

Work across varied writing tasks including short replies, longer character-driven responses, professional correspondence drafts, and persuasive messaging tailored for U.S. Spanish-speaking audiences.

• Write high-quality Spanish responses to prompts and simulated user interactions.
• Edit and proofread AI-generated text for grammar, tone, and cultural appropriateness.
• Capture dialectal and cultural nuance common among Spanish speakers in the United States.
• Follow style and quality guidelines to produce consistent, diverse training examples.

Requirements

This role requires a native Spanish speaker currently living in the USA who has lived there full-time for at least five years. Candidates must demonstrate strong written Spanish and the ability to adapt tone and style for different contexts.

We strongly prefer candidates with substantial creative or content writing experience in Spanish. Prior experience performing writing tasks on AI/data-labeling platforms (including OpenTrain) is highly valued; rating-only experience is less relevant.

• Native Spanish speaker from the USA; residency in the USA for 5+ years required.
• Strong command of written Spanish across multiple styles and registers.
• Basic understanding of English to follow instructions and communicate with the team.
• Preferred: 5+ years of creative or content writing in Spanish (substantial experience will be scored highly).
• Preferred: portfolio of published works or writing samples in Spanish.
• Advantage: experience using AI chatbot tools (e.g., ChatGPT) and prior writing tasks on AI/data-labeling platforms.
• Must be available at least 10 hours/week; 20+ hours/week preferred.
• Employment: contractor; please confirm your highest level of education during the process.

Interview and writing test

The interview includes questions about your experience with writing tasks on AI/data-labeling platforms and a short, live writing test. An automated interviewer will present questions in English and Spanish; responses must be written in Spanish. The test results significantly affect your qualification score.

Please be ready to provide portfolio links or descriptions of published work, and to state how many months/years you have performed writing tasks on AI/data-labeling platforms.
