The Role

OpenTrain AI is seeking a German Creative Writer for remote contract work focused on LLM chatbot training. You will write authentic, culturally relevant responses to prompts and refine AI-generated text to make it accurate, engaging, and natural.

The role requires strong written German, creative judgment, and sensitivity to German dialects and regional nuances. Your work will support the linguistic quality and broader usefulness of conversational AI systems.

What You’ll Do

You will create and refine written content for AI training projects. The work combines creative writing, content creation, editing, and careful attention to how people communicate in different German-speaking contexts.

• Generate authentic German responses based on provided prompts
• Improve AI-generated text for accuracy, quality, and engagement
• Write in varied styles while maintaining a strong command of German grammar
• Account for German dialects, regional expressions, and cultural nuances
• Edit and proofread content meticulously
• Complete writing tasks involving prompt responses, text generation, and summarization

Requirements And Preferred Qualifications

More than five years of creative writing or German content creation experience is preferred but not required. Substantial writing experience in German is highly valued, particularly when supported by published work or a portfolio.

Previous experience writing responses to prompts or questions for AI or data-labeling projects is highly preferred. Writing experience is more relevant to this role than experience limited to rating or evaluating other people’s responses.

• Strong written German proficiency with excellent grammar
• Ability to write across a variety of styles
• Basic English ability for instructions and team communication
• Strong editing and proofreading skills
• More than five years of German creative writing or content creation experience preferred
• Portfolio of published German writing preferred, either online or in print
• Prior writing experience for AI or data-labeling projects preferred
• Experience with AI chatbot tools such as ChatGPT is advantageous but not essential
• Be prepared to discuss your highest level of education

Schedule, Location, And Compensation

This is a flexible remote contract role for candidates located in Austria, Germany, Switzerland, or Spain. The listed time requirement is less than 20 hours per week, with a minimum commitment of 10 hours; a commitment of 20 or more hours per week is preferred.

• Compensation: $24 USD per hour

German Interview Writing Assessment

The interview includes questions about your AI or data-labeling writing experience, including how many months or years you have completed writing tasks on such projects. You may also be asked to provide a link to a German writing portfolio or describe your published work if links are unavailable.

At the end of the interview, you will complete a short writing test. The questions are provided in German, and your answers must also be written in German. The quality and precision of your responses will significantly influence your qualification score.

• Write a brief professional email in German requesting feedback from your supervisor on a prepared quarterly financial report, focusing on data analysis and presentation style
• Write a concise persuasive email in German encouraging an introverted friend to speak at a local event, highlighting two benefits and addressing one possible concern
