The Role

We are hiring a German Creative Writer (contractor, part-time) to generate and refine dialogue for LLM chatbot training. You will craft authentic, culturally relevant responses to prompts and edit AI-generated text so the model’s German reads naturally across dialects and contexts.

This is a remote contract position at $24 USD per hour. The role requires careful creative writing and editing in German and benefits from experience producing written prompt responses on online data-labeling platforms.

What You’ll Do

Your daily work will focus on writing and improving text used to train conversational AI. Tasks will include producing original prompt responses, rewriting or expanding AI drafts, and creating content that reflects regional language use and cultural nuance.

• Write high-quality German responses to prompts (prompt-response writing, SFT-style examples).
• Edit and proofread AI-generated text for clarity, naturalness, tone, and grammar.
• Create variations and role-play dialogue to cover dialects, registers, and situational contexts.
• Perform text summarization and short-form generation when requested.

Requirements

We require strong written German and demonstrated creative writing ability. Please read these requirements carefully — they will be verified during the interview and short test.

• Language: Native or near-native written German; basic English to follow instructions.
• Experience: Preferably 5+ years in creative or content writing in German; candidates with substantial German writing experience should receive a high qualification score.
• Platform experience: Prior writing work on online data-labeling or AI-training platforms (for example OpenTrain or similar) is highly preferred; writing tasks are more relevant than rating-only experience.
• Skills: Excellent grammar, diverse writing styles, strong editing and proofreading.
• Tools: Familiarity with AI chat tools (e.g., ChatGPT) is an advantage but not required.

Interview & Short German Test

The interview will include targeted questions about your writing experience and portfolio, and a mandatory German-language test at the end. Responses to the test must be in German and will strongly influence your qualification score.

• During the interview you will be asked how many months/years you have writing experience on data-labeling platforms and to provide a link or description of your portfolio.
• We will ask your highest level of education and about any prior AI-writing tasks you've completed.
• Final test (in German) — you must answer in German: 1) Briefly describe a vivid character with at least two distinct traits. 2) Draft a short professional email to your manager requesting feedback on a quarterly financial report, focusing on data analysis and presentation. 3) Write a concise persuas
