About AI Training and Data Labeling

AI training is the human side of building artificial intelligence. Writers and language specialists create examples, refine model responses, and help conversational systems understand how people communicate naturally across languages and cultures.

  • Contribute to the development of conversational AI
  • Use language expertise to shape more natural model behavior
  • Work in a fast-growing technology field

The Role

OpenTrain AI is seeking a Cantonese creative writer for a remote contract role focused on large language model and chatbot training. You will write authentic, culturally relevant responses from prompts and improve AI-generated text for accuracy, engagement, and natural language quality.

The work requires a strong command of written Cantonese Chinese, including regional nuances, cultural context, varied writing styles, and excellent grammar. More than five years of Cantonese creative or content-writing experience is preferred, though it is not required in the additional requirements.

  • Role: Cantonese Creative Writer for LLM Training
  • Pay: $19 USD per hour
  • Employment type: Part-time contractor
  • Schedule: Flexible, less than 20 hours per week
  • Minimum availability: 10 hours per week
  • Preferred commitment: 20 or more hours per week

What You'll Do

You will help improve the linguistic capabilities and practical effectiveness of AI conversational models used in contexts where Cantonese is essential. Your writing should make chatbot interactions realistic, relatable, accurate, and engaging.

  • Generate Cantonese responses to provided prompts and questions
  • Create natural and culturally relevant dialogue
  • Refine AI-generated Cantonese text
  • Write across multiple styles and content formats
  • Edit and proofread carefully for grammar and quality
  • Apply regional and cultural knowledge to language choices
  • Support text generation, question answering, and prompt-response writing tasks

Requirements and Preferred Experience

Applicants should be highly proficient in written Cantonese Chinese and have a basic understanding of English for following instructions and communicating with the team. Experience writing responses to prompts on AI training or data-labeling platforms is highly preferred, while experience rating or evaluating responses is less relevant to this role.

Experience with AI chatbot tools such as ChatGPT is an advantage but is not essential. A published Cantonese writing portfolio is preferred but not required; applicants may provide links or describe their work if links are unavailable.

  • Strong written Cantonese Chinese and excellent grammar
  • Creative writing or content-creation experience in Cantonese preferred
  • More than five years of Cantonese writing experience preferred
  • Prior writing experience on AI or data-labeling platforms preferred
  • Basic English for instructions and team communication
  • Excellent editing and proofreading skills
  • AI chatbot experience is helpful but not required
  • Published Cantonese writing portfolio preferred but not required

Interview and Cantonese Writing Assessment

During the interview, you will be asked how much experience you have writing responses to prompts or questions on AI training and data-labeling platforms. You will also be asked about your highest level of education and, if applicable, your Cantonese writing portfolio.

At the end of the interview, you will complete a short assessment. Questions will be provided in English and Cantonese Chinese, and you must respond in Cantonese Chinese. The quality and precision of these responses will significantly affect your qualification score.

  • Describe a unique, vivid character in creative Cantonese writing, including at least two notable traits or characteristics.
  • Write a brief Cantonese email to your supervisor requesting feedback on a quarterly financial report, focusing on data analysis and presentation style.
  • Write a concise persuasive Cantonese email encouraging an introverted friend to volunteer as a guest speaker at a local event, highlighting two benefits and addressing one possible concern.
