The Role

OpenTrain is seeking a Parametric CAD Data Generation and Validation Specialist to create and review parametric CAD data for AI model training. You will combine practical mechanical design with dataset generation, producing accurate FreeCAD models and documentation that support reproducibility and technical transparency.

The work includes mechanical parts, assemblies, and design features. You will use engineering judgment to create robust, reusable models and assess whether the resulting CAD data meets quality expectations and reflects real-world design practices.

This is a remote, part-time contractor opportunity requiring 20+ hours per week. The listed compensation range is $40 to $100 USD per hour.

What You'll Do

You will generate, edit, validate, and document parametric CAD data used in AI training datasets. Your work will require precision, consistent quality review, and clear technical communication as project requirements develop.

• Produce, edit, and validate precise parametric CAD models using FreeCAD.
• Build a diverse library of mechanical parts, assemblies, and design features for AI dataset creation.
• Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing principles to reflect real-world mechanical design standards.
• Review CAD data for geometric accuracy, identify discrepancies, and resolve quality issues.
• Implement feedback and revisions as project requirements evolve.
• Document modeling workflows and design decisions for technical traceability.
• Use Python scripting where helpful to automate modeling tasks, improve parametrization, and enrich the resulting dataset.

Required Qualifications
