Why AI training matters — and why people do this work
AI training is the human side of building intelligent systems: people create, review, and teach models by annotating data, writing reference answers, and judging outputs. Contributors shape how AI systems behave and improve language performance across real-world use cases.
This kind of work is accessible, often flexible, and a direct way to work on cutting-edge AI. Many projects support part-time schedules and let contributors apply language and editorial skills to meaningful model improvements.
The role
You will work as a Norwegian Language Specialist focused on reviewing AI-generated Norwegian text, producing high-quality reference answers, and judging the overall language quality of model outputs.
This is a contractor, part-time role restricted to Norway-based contributors. Expected time commitment is 20+ hours per week. Compensation is $55 USD per hour.
Employment type: Contractor, Part-time
Location: Norway (country restriction)
Time: 20+ hours/week
Pay: $55 USD per hour
What you’ll do day to day
Work involves close, careful review of model responses and producing clear written feedback and reference outputs in Norwegian. Tasks emphasize both language quality and factual accuracy.
Review AI outputs for accuracy, fluency, grammar, spelling, tone, and cultural appropriateness
Write high-quality rewrites and authoritative reference answers in Norwegian
Flag factual errors, hallucinations, ambiguity, bias, and policy-risk language
Compare multiple model responses and assess which is stronger on fluency, fidelity, and clarity
Support improvement in Norwegian performance across general knowledge, support, education, and conversational domains
Requirements
You must be able to provide clear, well-argued written feedback in English and produce polished Norwegian outputs. Prior evaluation or editorial experience is helpful but not strictly required if you meet the language criteria.
Native or near-native Norwegian reading and writing ability
Strong English proficiency for detailed written feedback
Experience in writing, editing, localization, translation, content QA, journalism, or education
Ability to explain grammar, spelling, punctuation, style, and meaning differences clearly
Familiarity with Bokmål and/or Nynorsk is a plus
Prior AI data training, translation QA, editorial QA, or rubric-based evaluation experience is preferred
Who should apply
Apply if you care about language quality, enjoy close editorial work, and want to influence how AI handles Norwegian across many use cases. This role suits language professionals, translators, editors, journalists, teachers, and experienced native speakers seeking steady part-time contract work.
Intermediate experience level — comfortable with nuance in style and register
You must be based in Norway and able to commit 20+ hours per week
Comfortable working with evaluation tasks like ranking, rating, and writing reference outputs (label types include evaluation rating, text generation, and RLHF)
How it works
If selected, you will contract directly with OpenTrain AI and work on text-based annotation and evaluation projects using our instructions and rubrics. Tasks will ask you to read prompts and model outputs, produce reference answers, and record ratings or qualitative feedback.
