The Role

As a Japanese Language Expert, you will transcribe Japanese audio samples and review language data for accuracy, completeness, clarity, and contextual meaning. You will work in both Japanese and English, follow project guidelines, and submit high-quality deliverables using transcription tools and project platforms.

This is an intermediate-level contractor role with pay of $20 to $36 per hour. The project is expected to run for 3 to 6 months.

What You'll Do

• Accurately transcribe Japanese audio, capturing content, context, speaker nuances, and linguistic details.

• Correct errors, inconsistencies, and ambiguities in machine-generated or human-created transcriptions.
• Annotate audio files or transcripts with relevant metadata and contextual notes when required.
• Collaborate with project managers and other experts to maintain consistency and quality across deliverables.
• Use transcription tools and platforms to process and submit work according to project requirements.
• Provide linguistic and cultural insights that help improve AI model understanding and performance.

Requirements and Preferred Qualifications

The strongest candidates will bring native-level Japanese fluency, fluent English proficiency, and the ability to understand both spoken and written Japanese. Professional experience in transcription, linguistic review, localization, or related language work is strongly encouraged.

• Native-level fluency in Japanese
• Fluent English proficiency and comfort working in both English and Japanese
• Strong comprehension of spoken and written Japanese
• Experience with or interest in audio transcription, linguistic review, localization, or related language work
• Familiarity with transcription conventions, audio review workflows, annotation tools, or speech data projects is preferred
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to recognize subtle differences in language, pronunciation, and context
• Strong organizational skills and a commitment to timely, high-quality submissions
• Previous AI training data, data annotation, or language technology experience is a plus
