OpenTrain is the #1 platform for building careers in AI training and data labeling. We help people find, apply to, and grow in language and annotation work that shapes how modern AI systems learn. OpenTrain is hiring and acts as the contracting organization for this role.
Why AI training matters
AI training (also called data labeling or annotation) is the human work behind better language models. Contributors annotate, review, and rate model outputs so systems understand tone, meaning, and cultural nuance. This work is highly flexible, often remote, and a practical way to work on the cutting edge of AI development.
The role
You will be the Gujarati Quality Assurance Lead, responsible for reviewing AI-generated Gujarati outputs and trainer submissions against detailed rubrics and project guidelines. This is a contractor, part-time role (20+ hours/week) paying $30/hour (USD). Work is remote but limited to applicants in the US, GB, or IN.
Employment type: Contractor, Part-time
Minimum time: 20+ hours per week
Pay: $30/hour (USD)
Languages required: Gujarati (gu) and English (en)
Allowed countries: United States, United Kingdom, India
What you'll do day-to-day
Your core responsibility is quality review: evaluate Gujarati model outputs and trainer work for accuracy, fluency, grammar, spelling, tone, cultural appropriateness, meaning preservation, formatting, and adherence to instructions.
You will provide clear, written feedback to trainers and contributors, identify recurring issues, maintain and update documentation and style guides, support onboarding, and help coordinate QA workflows across remote teams to scale Gujarati-language review processes.
Perform rubric-based evaluation and rating of text outputs (label types: evaluation rating, question answering).
Write precise feedback notes to help contributors improve.
Maintain trackers, style guides, FAQs, and onboarding materials in Google Docs/Sheets.
Coordinate with remote trainers and QAs via Discord and shared dashboards.
Requirements
Candidates must meet these core requirements. We will not invent or assume additional qualifications beyond what is listed here.
Native or near-native Gujarati proficiency with strong reading and writing ability.
Strong English communication skills for writing guidelines and feedback.
Experience reviewing translation, localization, or language QA work (writing, editing, or annotation).
Ability to judge grammar, tone, register, and cultural appropriateness in Gujarati.
Familiarity with rubric-based quality review and AI training or LLM evaluation workflows.
Comfort using Discord, Google Sheets, Google Docs, trackers, or similar workflow tools.
Helpful background (not required)
Prior experience leading or supporting remote annotators, trainers, reviewers, editors, or QA teams will help you succeed. Familiarity with data annotation, prompt/response evaluation, or large language model behavior is a plus but not mandatory.
Experience coordinating remote teams or maintaining QA documentation.
Background in localization, translation workflows, or content moderation for Gujarati.
How to apply and next steps
If you meet the requirements, apply through OpenTrain to be considered. Your application should highlight Gujarati writing/editing experience, examples of reviewer or QA work if available, and your availability for 20+ hours per week.
Shortlisted candidates may complete a small paid evaluation task to demonstrate rubric-based review and written feedback skills.
Prepare examples of Gujarati language review or editing when possible.
Be ready to use Discord and Google Docs/Sheets as primary collaboration tools.
