The Role

OpenTrain AI is recruiting a French Audio Transcription and Alignment Auditor to review speech data used in AI training. You will assess whether French transcriptions accurately represent spoken audio, verify word-level timing and reference text, and provide clear, rubric-based judgments that improve speech dataset quality.

This is an entry-level, part-time contractor opportunity paying $41.50 USD per hour, with a time requirement of less than 20 hours per week. You will complete a calibration phase before beginning production review work.

What You’ll Do

You will listen carefully to recordings of human or agent speech and compare each recording with its prepared transcription. Your decisions must follow written standards consistently, with clear explanations that help downstream reviewers understand the result.

The work includes transcription evaluation, word-level alignment review, error coding, and corrections to segment boundaries. You will identify critical errors first so that each item’s failure reason is easy to interpret.

• Compare spoken French audio with prepared transcriptions.
• Apply relevant transcription error codes.
• Decide whether each item passes or fails.
• Write clear rationales for audit decisions.
• Check whether word-level boundaries match the start and end of spoken words.
• Correct inaccurate boundaries and split or merge segments when needed.
• Add missing segments and remove segments that contain no word.
• Distinguish acoustic ambiguity from clear transcription or alignment errors.

Requirements

You must have native or near-native French as spoken in France, supported by upbringing in or substantial residence within a French-speaking region. Strong English reading and writing are required for interpreting detailed conventions, applying error codes, and writing audit rationales.

Success in this role depends on careful listening, accurate recognition of similar sounds and word boundaries in continuous speech, and disciplined application of written standards across a high volume of judgments.
