About this role OpenTrain is recruiting for a French Audio Transcript Editor to support AI training projects. This role involves reviewing and correcting French audio transcripts to ensure every word, timestamp, and formatting detail is exactly right. The work is fully remote, flexible, and based on hourly contracts, with assignments available for individuals located in Quebec, Canada.
What you will do - Listen to French audio recordings and compare them against existing transcripts - Identify and correct errors in spelling, word choice, punctuation, and speaker attribution - Ensure word-level accuracy and precise timing alignment throughout each transcript - Apply detailed style and formatting guidelines consistently across assignments - Flag unclear or ambiguous audio segments and document them according to project standards - Work with annotation platforms and transcript editing tools to polish output - Complete task-based assignments independently on your own schedule
Required skills - Native or near-native French speaker with excellent ear for spoken French (including Québécois and Canadian varieties) - Exceptionally detail-oriented, able to catch small errors - Comfortable with word-level accuracy and exact timing in transcripts - Able to follow detailed style guides and formatting rules with consistency - Strong listening comprehension, even with challenging audio quality or overlapping speakers - Self-motivated, reliable, and comfortable working independently
Helpful background - Experience as a transcriptionist, court reporter, or stenographer - Background in subtitle editing, closed-captioning, or media localization - Training in linguistics, phonetics, or language sciences - Previous work with annotation platforms, data labeling tools, or transcript editing software - Familiarity with Québécois French alongside other regional accents
