About AI Training and Audio Transcription

AI training is the human work behind modern artificial intelligence. People prepare, review, and improve examples that help AI systems understand language, speech, images, and other real-world information.

For this project, accurate French transcripts help improve how technology processes spoken French across different accents, registers, speaking speeds, and recording conditions.

The Role

OpenTrain AI is recruiting a French Audio Transcript Editor to review French audio recordings against existing transcripts. You will correct errors, align words precisely to the audio, apply project standards, and identify segments that are unclear or ambiguous.

This is a fully remote, flexible contractor role with part-time work and task-based assignments. The role description supports a commitment of 10–40 hours per week, while the listing indicates availability of 20 or more hours per week. No prior AI or technology experience is required.

  • Contractor and part-time engagement
  • Remote work from France
  • French-language audio transcription and editing
  • Pay listed at $10–$35 USD per hour
  • Entry-level opportunity with no prior AI experience required

What You’ll Do

You will work independently with annotation platforms and transcript editing tools to deliver polished, accurate output. Assignments require close listening, careful application of style rules, and consistent documentation of difficult audio.

  • Listen to French audio recordings and compare them with existing transcripts.
  • Correct spelling, word choice, punctuation, and speaker attribution errors.
  • Ensure word-level accuracy and precise timing alignment throughout each transcript.
  • Apply detailed style and formatting guidelines consistently.
  • Flag unclear or ambiguous audio segments and document them according to project standards.
  • Complete task-based assignments independently on your own schedule.

Required Skills

The strongest candidates have excellent French listening comprehension and can maintain accuracy across regional accents, dialects, registers, speaking speeds, challenging audio, and overlapping speakers. You should be comfortable following detailed rules and working reliably without close supervision.

  • Native French speaker with an excellent ear for spoken French.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to catch small errors.
  • Ability to correct spelling, punctuation, and speaker attribution in transcripts.
  • Experience with word-level accuracy and precise timing alignment in audio transcription.
  • Ability to follow style guides and formatting rules consistently.
  • Strong listening comprehension, including with difficult audio or overlapping speakers.
  • Self-motivated, reliable, and comfortable working independently.

Helpful Background

Prior experience is helpful but not required. Relevant backgrounds may include transcription, subtitle editing, closed captioning, media localization, language-focused study, translation, proofreading, or editorial quality assurance.

  • Transcriptionist, court reporter, or stenographer experience.
  • Subtitle editing, closed-captioning, or media localization experience.
  • Training in linguistics, phonetics, or language sciences.
  • Experience with annotation platforms or transcript editing software.
  • Familiarity with multiple French-speaking regional accents and dialects.
  • Background in translation, proofreading, or editorial quality assurance.

Why Join This Project

This opportunity combines flexible remote work with detail-rich AI training assignments that help technology process spoken French more effectively. It can also help you strengthen transcription and editorial skills while building a portfolio of relevant freelance work.

  • Work remotely on your own schedule.
  • Contribute to AI training involving spoken French.
  • Build a freelance portfolio through meaningful audio work.
  • Develop transcription, listening, and editorial quality skills.
