About AI training and why this work matters
AI training (also called data labeling, annotation, or human feedback work) is the human side of building modern AI. People prepare and review examples so models learn correct, natural, and culturally appropriate responses.
This role puts Croatian language expertise at the center of that process: your feedback and documentation will directly shape how Croatian-language AI behaves across projects.
The role — what a Croatian QA Lead does
You will review AI-generated Croatian content and trainer QA submissions, evaluate outputs against project rubrics, and provide clear, written feedback that keeps quality consistent across Croatian AI training work. This is a remote, contractor position for candidates based in Croatia.
Labeling work is primarily text-based (evaluation/rating and RLHF-style review). You will also maintain documentation, support onboarding, and coordinate updates across distributed trainers and reviewers.
Role type: Contractor, part-time (20+ hours/week).
Data type: Text; label types: Evaluation Rating and RLHF.
Location: Candidates must be based in Croatia.
What you'll do day-to-day
Your main responsibility is quality assurance for Croatian-language training data and the team that produces it. You will spot language and formatting issues, check instruction-following, and keep outputs aligned with rubrics and project standards.
You will also create and maintain the written materials and processes that keep distributed contributors aligned as projects evolve.
Review Croatian AI outputs and trainer QA work for accuracy, fluency, grammar, spelling, tone, cultural appropriateness, meaning preservation, formatting, and rubric adherence.
Provide clear, actionable written feedback and escalate recurring or critical quality issues.
Communicate project updates, guidelines, and quality expectations to trainers and QAs.
Answer contributor questions on wording, register, translation fidelity, regional terminology, diacritics, case endings, and other edge cases.
Support onboarding, training calls, contributor activation, and ongoing process improvement.
Create and maintain style guides, trackers, FAQs, quality notes, examples, honeypots, and onboarding materials.
Requirements — what you must bring
We need someone with strong Croatian language skills plus the ability to work in English for coordination and documentation. The role emphasizes practical language knowledge, editorial judgment, and comfort with remote collaboration tools.
Native or near-native Croatian proficiency with strong reading and writing skills.
Strong English communication skills for guidelines, feedback, and team coordination.
Experience in Croatian writing, editing, translation, localization, content QA, education, annotation, or related language-review workflows.
Deep understanding of Croatian grammar, spelling, punctuation, diacritics, declension, case endings, gender agreement, tone, register, and cultural context.
Ability to distinguish Croatian usage from Serbian, Bosnian, or Montenegrin variants where relevant.
Comfort working remotely using Discord, Google Sheets, Google Docs, trackers, dashboards, and project management systems.
Helpful background and nice-to-haves
These qualifications are not required but make you a stronger candidate and help you move quickly into a leadership QA role.
Experience leading or supporting trainers, annotators, reviewers, editors, or QAs.
Familiarity with AI training, data annotation, large language models, prompt/response evaluation, or rubric-based QA.
Experience managing style guides, FAQs, honeypots, or onboarding documentation.
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Croatian, Linguistics, Translation, Communications, Journalism, Education, Quality Assurance, or a related field.
Pay, schedule, and location
This is a part-time contractor role for candidates based in Croatia. The position requires 20+ hours per week and pays up to $30 per hour.
Employment type: Contractor, part-time. You will work remotely and coordinate with distributed trainers and reviewers.
Pay: $30/hour (hourly contractor rate).
Minimum expected commitment: 20+ hours/week.
Hiring eligibility: Croatia only.
