The Role

OpenTrain is seeking a Croatian Quality Assurance Lead to review AI-generated Croatian content and trainer QA submissions. You will evaluate work against project rubrics, provide precise written feedback, identify recurring quality gaps, and help keep quality consistent across Croatian AI training projects.

This is a remote contractor role open to candidates eligible to work from Croatia. The schedule requires 20+ hours per week, with pay of up to $30 per hour.

What You'll Do

You will combine detailed Croatian language review with contributor support and quality operations. The role includes communicating evolving expectations, helping contributors resolve difficult language questions, and maintaining the documentation used by remote trainers and QA teams.

• Review Croatian AI training content and trainer QA work for accuracy, fluency, grammar, spelling, tone, cultural appropriateness, meaning preservation, formatting, and rubric adherence.
• Provide clear written feedback and escalate recurring or critical quality issues.
• Communicate project updates, guidelines, and quality expectations to trainers and QAs.
• Answer questions about Croatian wording, register, translation fidelity, regional terminology, diacritics, case endings, and edge cases.
• Support onboarding, training calls, contributor activation, and process improvement.
• Create and maintain style guides, trackers, FAQs, quality notes, examples, honeypots, and onboarding materials.

Required Qualifications

This role requires advanced Croatian language judgment, strong English communication, and experience reviewing or improving language content. You should be comfortable applying detailed standards consistently while explaining decisions clearly to trainers, annotators, reviewers, and QA colleagues.

• Native or near-native Croatian proficiency with strong reading and writing skills.
• Strong English communication skills for guidelines, feedback, and team coordination.
• Experience in Croatian writing, editing, translation, localization, content QA, education, annotation, or related language-review workflows.
• Strong understanding of Croatian grammar, spelling, punctuation, diacritics, declension, case endings, gender agreement, tone, register, and cultural context.
• Ability to distinguish Croatian usage from Serbian, Bosnian, or Montenegrin variants where relevant.
• Comfort working with Discord, Google Sheets, Google Docs, trackers, dashboards, and project management systems in remote environments.

Helpful Experience

Experience leading or supporting trainers, annotators, reviewers, editors, or QAs is a plus. Familiarity with AI training, data annotation, large language models, prompt or response evaluation, and rubric-based QA is also valuable.

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Croatian, Linguistics, Translation, Communications, Journalism, English, Education, Quality Assurance, or a related field.
• Experience managing style guides, FAQs, onboarding materials, honeypots, or other quality documentation.
• Background supporting contributor activation, training calls, or remote quality workflows.
