Why AI training matters
AI training (aka data labeling or human feedback) is the human work behind how modern language models behave. Contributors annotate, evaluate, and refine model outputs so systems become more accurate, culturally appropriate, and useful.
This work is highly flexible and remote-friendly, and it’s a direct way to shape real-world AI behavior while building expertise in localization, evaluation, and quality workflows.
The role
As the Cantonese Quality Assurance Lead you will drive linguistic quality for Traditional Chinese content tailored to Hong Kong. You’ll evaluate AI-generated and contributor-produced text against detailed rubrics, provide clear written feedback in English, maintain quality documentation, and help onboard and coordinate remote trainers and QAs.
What you'll do
Review Traditional Chinese (Hong Kong) and Cantonese-influenced outputs for accuracy, fluency, grammar, punctuation, tone, cultural appropriateness, meaning preservation, and formatting.
Evaluate trainer and QA submissions against project rubrics and provide precise written feedback in English.
Identify recurring quality issues (wording, terminology, tone, cultural fit) and recommend corrective actions.
Maintain and update style guides, FAQs, trackers, examples, honeypots, and other quality documentation.
Communicate project updates and quality expectations to remote contributors and lead onboarding sessions.
Improve scalable QA workflows and support ongoing training for reviewers and annotators.
Requirements
Native or near-native Traditional Chinese proficiency focused on Hong Kong writing conventions.
Strong Cantonese judgment and familiarity with Hong Kong terminology and local usage.
Strong English communication skills for clear, structured written feedback and team coordination.
Experience in Traditional Chinese writing, translation, localization, content QA, AI training, or related review workflows.
Experience supporting or coordinating remote teams of trainers, reviewers, editors, annotators, or QAs.
Excellent attention to detail, organization, and ability to keep documentation and examples up to date.
Compensation & logistics
This is a remote contractor, part-time role based in Hong Kong. Expect 20+ hours per week with a pay rate up to $40/hour.
You will be engaged as an OpenTrain contractor and work primarily with text-based evaluation and generation labeling tasks.
