OpenTrain is the #1 platform for finding and building careers in AI training and data labeling. We help people start and grow careers teaching AI by consolidating opportunities, building a unified training portfolio, and making specialized work easy to find and apply for.
We focus on high-quality, human-centered AI training work that directly shapes how state-of-the-art models behave. Contributors on OpenTrain work remotely, often part time, and can develop expertise across languages and specializations.
About AI training work
AI training (data labeling/annotation) is the human side of building intelligent systems: people create, review, and rate examples so models learn correct language, facts, tone, and safety. This role centers on Urdu language quality for generative models.
Work in this field is flexible and accessible—many projects require language fluency, attention to detail, or domain knowledge rather than formal software credentials—and contributors directly influence how real AI systems respond.
The role
You will work as an Urdu Language AI Training Expert to evaluate and improve AI-generated Urdu content. This hourly contractor role focuses on creating gold-standard reference answers, writing prompt responses, and ranking model outputs to improve fluency, correctness, tone, and cultural appropriateness.
Labeling work will be text-focused and includes text generation, evaluation/rating, and translation/localization QA tasks.
Employment type: Contractor, part-time.
Data type: Text. Label tasks include TEXT_GENERATION, EVALUATION_RATING, TRANSLATION_LOCALIZATION.
What you'll do
Your day-to-day combines creative writing, linguistic QA, and structured evaluation. Tasks are rubric-driven and require clear written justification for ratings and corrections.
Create prompts and gold-standard Urdu answers across general knowledge, customer support, education, conversation, translation, and localization.
Evaluate and rank AI outputs for fluency, grammar, tone, register consistency, Nastaliq/script formatting, and right-to-left layout.
Detect unsafe or misleading content, factual hallucinations, bias, mistranslations, and culturally inappropriate phrasing.
Provide precise written feedback in English explaining errors and recommending corrections.
Requirements
Candidates must meet the stated language, education, and experience requirements and be able to document prior work or examples when requested.
Native or near-native Urdu proficiency with strong reading and writing skills.
Professional English proficiency (minimum C1) to write clear feedback and explanations.
Bachelor's degree or higher in Linguistics, Urdu Literature, English Literature, Communications, Journalism, Translation, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
3+ years professional experience in writing, editing, localization, translation, content QA, journalism, education, or related language-focused work.
Deep knowledge of Urdu grammar, spelling, punctuation, Nastaliq/script conventions, and right-to-left formatting.
Ability to handle multiple registers: formal/literary Urdu, conversational Urdu, Pakistan and India varieties, and Urdu‑English code-switching.
High attention to detail for spotting subtle meaning shifts, incorrect gender/verb agreement, hallucinated claims, and culturally mismatched phrasing.
Helpful background
Prior experience with AI data training, annotation, translation QA, editorial QA, localization QA, or rubric-based evaluation is a strong plus but not strictly required.
Experience writing gold-standard responses, creating evaluation rubrics, or performing translation QA will be helpful.
Familiarity with common model failure modes (hallucinations, tone drift, mistranslation) speeds onboarding.
Schedule, location & pay
This is a remote contractor role open to residents of India, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. The position targets approximately 20+ hours per week.
Pay is up to $15 per hour (USD). Exact scheduling is flexible within project requirements; tasks are typically tracked and submitted through OpenTrain workflows.
Countries: IN, PK, SA, AE only.
Time commitment: ~20+ hours/week (hourly contractor).
Pay: Up to $15/hour (USD).
