About AI training and localization work

AI training (data labeling, annotation, and human-feedback work) is the human process that helps AI models learn to read, write, and behave correctly. Localization QA ensures models and training data use the right vocabulary, tone, and conventions for a specific audience — in this role, Taiwan Mandarin and Traditional Chinese readers.

The role

We are hiring a Traditional Chinese (Taiwan) QA Lead to review AI-generated Traditional Chinese content and trainer QA output for Taiwan-focused projects. You will evaluate output against rubrics, provide clear bilingual feedback, maintain quality resources, run onboarding, and help scale QA processes across remote teams.

• Contractor, part-time role — 20+ hours per week.
• Pay: $45 USD per hour.
• Work location: Taiwan (remote).

What you’ll do

You will lead quality assurance for Taiwan-targeted language tasks and support contributors to meet Taiwan language and localization standards.

• Evaluate Traditional Chinese Taiwan and Mandarin content for accuracy, fluency, grammar, spelling, punctuation, tone, cultural appropriateness, meaning preservation, formatting, and rubric adherence.
• Provide clear, structured written feedback in English to trainers and contributors.
• Spot recurring quality issues and communicate updates to trainers and QAs.
• Maintain and update style guides, trackers, FAQs, quality notes, examples, honeypots, and onboarding materials.
• Run onboarding and training calls to explain expectations, workflows, rubrics, and Taiwan-specific style requirements.
• Respond to contributor questions about Taiwan Mandarin wording, localization terminology, and edge cases.
• Help activate inactive contributors and support scalable QA workflows across distributed teams.

Requirements

You must meet the core language, experience, and tooling expectations below. We will rely on these skills day-to-day to keep guidelines consistent and training data high-quality.

• Native or near-native Traditional Chinese proficiency for Taiwan with strong reading and writing skills.
• Strong understanding of Taiwan Mandarin usage, terminology, tone, register, punctuation, formatting conventions, and cultural context.
• 3+ years of experience in Traditional Chinese writing, Mandarin editing, translation, localization, content QA, AI training, annotation, or related language-review work.
• Experience leading or supporting remote teams of trainers, annotators, reviewers, editors, or QAs.
• Comfort working with Discord, Google Sheets, Google Docs, trackers, dashboards, and project management tools.
• Strong English communication skills for guidelines, collaboration, and written feedback.

Helpful background (not required)

These qualifications make it easier to hit the ground running but are not strict requirements if you can demonstrate equivalent experience.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chinese, Linguistics, Translation, Communications, Journalism, Education, QA, or a related field.
• Experience with AI training, large language models, prompt or response evaluation, or rubric-based LLM QA.
• Familiarity with Taiwan-specific product or UI localization norms and simplified Chinese leakage detection.
