The Role

OpenTrain AI is seeking a Speech and Accent Evaluator for Arabic, with a focus on Southern Levantine Arabic in Jordan. You will interact with an AI model in the target accent by providing audio prompts and evaluating its spoken responses.

You will assess accent, fluency, pronunciation, and linguistic naturalness. Your feedback will help identify errors and unnatural speech patterns so the model can produce clearer and more authentic Arabic speech.

• Workload: Less than 20 hours per week
• Engagement: Part-time contractor
• Pay: $20 per hour

What You’ll Do

This project requires careful listening and consistent judgment. You will provide clear, structured, and constructive feedback on AI-generated audio, focusing on the linguistic details that affect how natural and intelligible the speech sounds.

• Create audio prompts in Southern Levantine Arabic
• Listen to and evaluate AI-generated spoken responses
• Assess accent, fluency, pronunciation, and speech naturalness
• Identify pronunciation errors and unnatural speech patterns
• Explain findings through actionable, structured feedback
• Help refine AI responses through multiple evaluation and improvement cycles

Requirements

You must currently be based in Jordan and have at least two years of experience using Southern Levantine Arabic in daily communication, whether in personal or professional settings. Familiarity with local pronunciation, accent variations, and linguistic nuances is essential.

A background in linguistics, phonetics, speech analysis, or language teaching is helpful but not required. The role does require strong attention to detail and the ability to communicate evaluations clearly.

Candidate Evaluation

As part of the hiring process, the assessment will explore your fluency in the target accent, your understanding of pronunciation nuances, and your ability to evaluate AI-generated speech. You may be asked to describe your experience with Southern Levantine Arabic and explain common phonetic or accent-specific features, including intonation or tone variations.

The evaluation may also present a scenario in which you continue generating AI responses until they reach a perfect 7 out of 7 rating for accent and fluency. Be prepared to explain how you would manage multiple iterations and what you would improve at each stage.
