About AI Training Work
AI training (data labeling/annotation) is the human side of building intelligent systems: experts provide high-quality examples, corrections, and evaluations so models learn correct, safe, and culturally appropriate behavior.
For localization projects, that means applying professional translation and LQA skills to assess accuracy, tone, register, cultural nuance, and factual correctness of AI-generated translations and localized content.
- Work directly impacts how language models translate and localize content for real users.
- Most projects are project-based, contract roles with flexible hours — ideal for experienced freelancers or localization specialists.
The Role
We’re hiring an experienced Spanish–English localization and LQA specialist based in Spain to review and improve AI-generated outputs for the Spain Spanish locale. This is a contract, part-time role expected to take less than 20 hours per week.
Compensation: USD $24 per hour. Employment type: contractor, part-time. You will evaluate, correct, and produce model answers and explanations while applying structured evaluation criteria and established LQA/MQM typologies.
- Data type: text — tasks include translation evaluation, response ranking, and producing corrected outputs.
- Labeling work includes EVALUATION_RATING, RLHF, and TRANSLATION_LOCALIZATION tasks;(platform-provided tools/workflows).
What You’ll Do
- Evaluate AI-generated Spanish outputs for accuracy, clarity, reasoning quality, and adherence to prompts and style guides.
- Apply MQM/LQA error typologies to classify and grade errors with defensible severity decisions and root-cause thinking.
- Produce high-quality corrected outputs, model answers, and clear explanations for corrections.
- Rate and rank multiple AI responses using structured evaluation criteria and written justification.
- Perform rigorous fact-checking of localized content (units, names, dates, references) using reliable sources.
- Use CAT/QA workflows: manage terminology, leverage translation memories and termbases, and run automated checks where applicable.
Requirements
- Must be currently based in Spain (location requirement).
- Native or near-native Spanish proficiency focused on the Spain locale, with strong professional writing and editing skills.
- English proficiency at C1 or higher (reading and writing) to interpret prompts, sources, and evaluation guidelines.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Translation, Linguistics, Localization, Communications, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of professional localization/translation experience; multilingual localization experience preferred.
- Demonstrated experience applying MQM/LQA frameworks: consistent error classification and severity decisions.
- Proficiency with CAT tools and QA workflows (TM/termbases, automated checks, structured guidelines).
- Strong terminology management, copyediting ability, and sensitivity to tone, register, inclusivity, and cultural nuance.
- Ability to rigorously fact-check localized content using reliable sources and sound reasoning.
- Prior experience with AI data training, annotation, or evaluation is preferred (but not strictly required).
Who Should Apply
Apply if you’re an experienced localization or translation professional who wants to shape how AI systems handle Spain Spanish. This role suits freelancers, consultants, and in-house localization experts who want part-time, contract work that leverages professional LQA skills.
You should be comfortable making defensible quality decisions, writing clear model answers, and working within structured evaluation frameworks.
- Ideal for candidates who enjoy linguistic problem-solving, terminology stewardship, and reasoned quality judgments.
- Good fit if you want to augment your translation work with cutting-edge AI evaluation experience.
