The Role
OpenTrain AI is recruiting a Slovenian Language Model Evaluation Expert to review AI-generated Slovenian content and create high-quality reference material for AI training. You will assess correctness, fluency, grammar, tone, cultural accuracy, reasoning quality, and adherence to prompts.
The role combines linguistic review with reference-answer creation, rewriting, fact-checking, and comparison of multiple model responses. You will work with content spanning general knowledge, customer support, education, conversational writing, translation, localization, and culturally sensitive topics.
Remote hourly contractor position for candidates located in Slovenia
Part-time commitment of about 20 hours per week

What You'll Do
You will evaluate Slovenian-language model outputs against detailed quality standards and provide precise written feedback. Your work will help identify both obvious errors and subtle issues that affect meaning, naturalness, and cultural fit.
Review spelling, grammar, punctuation, diacritics, tone, register, and prompt adherence
Assess accuracy, fluency, cultural appropriateness, terminology, and reasoning quality
Identify mistranslations, ambiguity, unnatural phrasing, logical inconsistencies, and factual hallucinations
Flag bias, unsafe language, and culturally inappropriate content
Explain errors clearly and recommend how responses should be corrected
Create prompts, gold-standard Slovenian answers, rewrites, and model answers
Rate and rank responses for correctness, meaning preservation, terminology quality, register consistency, and overall quality
Evaluate content across general knowledge, customer support, education, conversational writing, translation, localization, and culturally sensitive subjects
Required Qualifications
You must have native or near-native Slovenian proficiency and strong professional English proficiency at a minimum C1 level. English is needed to follow evaluation guidelines and provide detailed written feedback.
Deep knowledge of Slovenian grammar and usage is essential, including cases, declension, conjugation, agreement, dual-number usage, word order, tone, and style. You should be able to distinguish formal, neutral, conversational, professional, educational, and public-facing registers.
A bachelor's degree or higher in linguistics, Slovenian language or literature, English literature, communications, journalism, translation, or a related field is required, unless you have equivalent professional experience. At least three years of relevant professional experience is also required.
Native or near-native Slovenian reading and writing ability
Professional English proficiency at C1 level or above
Expertise in Slovenian grammar, spelling, punctuation, cases, declension, conjugation, agreement, and dual number
Ability to detect subtle meaning shifts, terminology issues, cultural mismatches, and unnatural phrasing
Experience evaluating language content for correctness, fluency, tone, factual reliability, and guideline adherence
Relevant language-focused degree or equivalent professional experience
At least three years of experience in writing, editing, translation, localization, content QA, journalism, education, or related work
Helpful Background
Experience in AI data training or annotation is helpful, as is prior work with translation quality assurance, editorial quality assurance, localization quality assurance, or rubric-based evaluation.
