The Role

OpenTrain is recruiting a Slovenian Language Model Evaluation Expert to review AI-generated Slovenian content and create high-quality reference material for AI training. You will assess correctness, fluency, grammar, tone, cultural accuracy, reasoning quality, and adherence to prompts.

The role combines linguistic review with reference-answer creation, rewriting, fact-checking, and comparison of multiple model responses. It is a remote hourly contractor position for candidates in Slovenia, with an estimated part-time commitment of about 20 hours per week over one to three months.

• Advertised rate of up to $25 per hour

What You'll Do

You will evaluate Slovenian AI outputs across general knowledge, customer support, education, conversational writing, translation, localization, and culturally sensitive content. Your feedback will help identify what models do well and where their responses need correction.

You will also create prompts, gold-standard Slovenian answers, rewrites, and model answers, then rate and rank responses using detailed quality criteria.

• Review accuracy, fluency, spelling, grammar, tone, register, cultural appropriateness, and prompt adherence
• Identify mistranslations, ambiguity, unnatural phrasing, terminology problems, logical inconsistencies, factual hallucinations, bias, and unsafe or culturally inappropriate language
• Explain errors precisely in writing and recommend how to correct them
• Create prompts, reference answers, rewrites, and model answers in Slovenian
• Compare, rate, and rank responses for correctness, meaning preservation, terminology quality, register consistency, and overall quality
• Evaluate content across general knowledge, customer support, education, conversation, translation, localization, and sensitive cultural topics

Requirements

This role requires native or near-native Slovenian proficiency, strong written English at C1 level or above, and advanced knowledge of Slovenian language structure and usage. You should be able to detect subtle changes in meaning and explain language decisions clearly in English.

A bachelor's degree or higher in linguistics, Slovenian language or literature, English literature, communications, journalism, translation, or a related field is required, unless you have equivalent professional experience. At least three years of relevant professional experience is also required.

• Native or near-native Slovenian reading and writing ability
• Professional English proficiency at C1 or above for guidelines and detailed written feedback
• Deep knowledge of Slovenian grammar, spelling, punctuation, diacritics, cases, declension, conjugation, dual number, word order, tone, and style
• Ability to distinguish formal, neutral, conversational, professional, educational, and public-facing registers
• Strong attention to case endings, agreement, dual-number usage, terminology, cultural fit, and subtle meaning shifts
• Relevant language-focused degree or equivalent professional experience
• At least three years of professional experience in writing, editing, translation, localization, content QA, journalism, education, or a related language-focused field

Helpful Background

Experience with AI data training or annotation is useful, as is familiarity with structured quality review. Background in translation QA, editorial QA, localization QA, or rubric-based evaluation can also help you succeed in this work.
