The Role

OpenTrain AI is seeking Shanghainese linguists to support an AI chatbot speech project. You will interact with an AI model by recording audio prompts, generating AI responses, and evaluating the pronunciation, accent, and fluency of the resulting speech.

The project focuses on how naturally the AI speaks Shanghainese. Response content is not evaluated. You will continue iterating until at least two and up to five responses receive a perfect 7/7 naturalness rating. Reaching that goal may require 10, 20, or more attempts.

What You'll Do

You will apply your knowledge of Shanghainese phonetics, accent variations, and fluency patterns to assess AI-generated audio. Your feedback should be clear, structured, and focused on pronunciation and natural delivery.

• Record audio prompts in Shanghainese
• Generate AI responses and review the resulting speech
• Evaluate accent, pronunciation, fluency, and naturalness
• Repeat the process across multiple iterations when needed
• Work toward two to five responses rated 7/7 for naturalness
• Provide actionable feedback on speech quality

Requirements

Candidates should have at least two years of experience with Shanghainese and a strong grasp of the language's phonetics, accent variations, and fluency patterns. Experience in speech evaluation, linguistic analysis, or accent validation is preferred but not required.

You must have access to your own laptop or PC and a stable internet connection. The role is listed as entry level, but the project specifically requires the stated Shanghainese experience.
