OpenTrain AI is the hiring and contracting organization for this role and the #1 platform for building careers in AI training and data labeling. We connect expert contributors with projects that shape how modern AI systems behave.
Working with OpenTrain means contributing directly to the human side of AI: your work improves model outputs and helps define industry standards for safe, reliable code generation.
About AI Training Work
AI training (aka data labeling or human feedback) is the human expertise behind model behavior—reviewing model outputs, correcting errors, and documenting fixes so models learn from human examples.
Many contributors in this field work remotely and with flexible schedules; projects range from short tasks to ongoing contracts. This role focuses on reviewing and elevating code quality produced by AI systems.
The Role
We are hiring a Rust programming language Subject Matter Expert (SME) located in India to review, debug, and correct AI-generated Rust code. You will produce precise fixes and clear documentation explaining each correction to improve training data quality.
This is a contractor, part-time role paid at $26 USD per hour. The project requires disciplined, independent work and consistent high-quality output.
Location: Must be located in India
Rate: $26 USD per hour (PAY_PER_HOUR)
Employment: Contractor, Part-time
Expected time: Input lists 20+ hours/week; candidates will supply exact availability during interview
What You'll Do
Your day-to-day work will center on inspecting AI-generated Rust code, identifying bugs and anti-patterns, implementing corrections, and documenting the rationale and steps taken so that AI models learn the correct patterns.
Review and debug Rust code produced by AI models to meet industry best practices
Correct code and supply clear, well-structured explanations for every change
Document edge cases, pitfalls, and recommended patterns to improve future model output
Submit evaluations and ratings of model-generated solutions according to project guidelines
Work independently and manage assigned tasks to meet agreed quality and throughput targets
Requirements
Candidates must be able to demonstrate strong, real-world Rust experience and excellent written English communication at C1 level.
7+ years of professional experience with the Rust programming language — be prepared to describe what you built and provide real-world examples
Strong debugging skills and experience producing production-quality fixes
Experience writing technical documentation and explaining complex technical concepts in clear English
Attention to detail, analytical thinking, and ability to work independently
Must be located in India and able to commit to a defined weekly hour total (you will provide an exact number during interview)
Interview & Testing Process
All candidates will undergo a coding/skill test and a live interview as part of the selection process. Honesty is required: any dishonesty during the interview or test will result in a permanent ban from the OpenTrain AI platform.
During the interview you will be asked specific background questions and must provide precise answers; these will be recorded in the AI interview summary.
Be prepared to complete a timed coding task in Rust and a live technical interview
You will be asked to provide your highest level of education and the exact number of years of Rust experience
You must state the exact number of hours per week you can commit (no broad ranges; provide a concrete number or a narrow range like "20-25 hours/week")
Provide concrete examples of projects or systems you built with Rust; interviewers will request details
Who Should Apply & How To Proceed
Apply if you are an experienced Rust developer in India who enjoys debugging, clear technical writing, and improving AI-generated code. This is ideal for professionals who want flexible, part-time contract work contributing to state-of-the-art AI training.
When you apply, ensure your profile and resume explicitly show your Rust experience and include examples of past projects. Be ready for the coding test and to answer the interview questions listed above.
Prepare concise examples of Rust work (links, descriptions, or repo references) and details about your role and impact
Ensure your written English demonstrates the clarity expected for documenting code corrections
Applications that do not meet the location, experience, or language requirements will not be considered
