About This Project
You’ll work on long-term transcription of short French conversational recordings. The project focuses on accurate, standardized transcripts that reflect exactly what is said (not translation or creative rewriting). Consistency and careful judgment are more important than speed.
Workload is steady and predictable: roughly one hour of tasks per weekday, completed at any time that suits you. This is contract, part-time work paid hourly at $15 USD per hour.
What You’ll Do
Listen to short French audio clips and produce clean, standardized transcripts that match spoken content. Follow detailed project rules for punctuation, accents, casing, and formatting.
Perform simple verification and labeling tasks: flag unclear or unusable audio, mark segments that cannot be confidently understood, and select predefined options in the platform’s interface when required.
- Transcribe conversational French audio accurately and consistently.
- Apply project-specific guidelines — do not translate or paraphrase.
- Flag low-quality or unintelligible segments using platform tools.
- Prioritize accuracy and consistent judgment calls over speed.
Requirements
These requirements are mandatory and will be verified during onboarding and a short screening sample.
- Must be a native French speaker (France French) currently located in France — France-based applicants only.
- Excellent written French: spelling, accents, punctuation, capitalization, and standard writing conventions.
- Comfortable following strict guidelines precisely and making careful listening judgments when audio is imperfect.
- Able to commit ~1 hour per weekday (Monday–Friday) on an ongoing basis — long-term (12+ months).
- Reliable internet, a computer suitable for web-based tools, quality headphones, and a quiet work environment.
- Willing to complete a short French transcription screening sample before starting.
Preferred Experience
Prior experience is helpful but not required for strong candidates who meet the language and accuracy requirements.
- Experience with transcription, captioning/subtitling, or speech data labeling/QA is preferred.
- Familiarity with web-based labeling tools or platform workflows is a plus.
Who Should Apply
Apply if you are a meticulous native French speaker based in France who enjoys focused, detail-oriented audio work and can follow guidelines without improvisation. This role suits people seeking flexible, part-time hours with steady daily tasks.
How It Works / Next Steps
If selected, you’ll complete a short screening transcription sample to confirm accuracy and guideline compliance. After approval, tasks will be assigned through the platform and can be completed at any time each weekday.
Payment is hourly at $15 USD per hour, paid according to the project’s payment schedule. This is contract work — you control when you log your hour each day.
- Complete the screening sample to demonstrate transcription accuracy.
- Accept tasks on the platform and work at a time that fits your schedule each weekday.
- Maintain consistent quality to remain active on the project long-term.
