The role

OpenTrain is recruiting a Marathi Audio Transcription Expert to help improve speech recognition for Marathi. This contractor, part-time role asks native Marathi speakers to accurately transcribe, annotate, and record audio that will be used to train next-generation speech AI systems.

What you'll do

You will produce high-quality Marathi speech data and annotations that meet project guidelines and privacy standards. Work includes both reviewing existing recordings and creating new, native-level audio samples when requested.

• Transcribe and annotate Marathi audio recordings with high accuracy and consistency
• Review, proofread, and correct transcriptions to ensure clarity and precision
• Record new audio samples in native-level Marathi to expand training data
• Apply domain-specific vocabulary and context to transcriptions as needed
• Use AI transcription tools and report on their effectiveness
• Follow established workflows and uphold data confidentiality standards

Requirements

Candidates must meet the core language, experience, and conduct standards below. We will verify ability to deliver accurate Marathi transcripts and follow annotation guidelines.

• Native-level proficiency in Marathi, spoken and written
• Demonstrated experience in audio transcription and/or recording
• Familiarity with AI transcription tools and speech data processing
• Exceptional attention to detail and strong proofreading skills
• Ability to collaborate remotely and communicate clearly
• Commitment to maintaining data privacy and confidentiality

Helpful background (optional)

The project favors contributors with related audio or content production experience, but these are not strict requirements. Prior AI dataset work is a plus.

• Experience as an audio/sound engineer, voice actor, or podcaster
• Familiarity with domain-specific vocabulary across industries
• Prior participation in AI training datasets or similar projects

Schedule, pay, and screening

This contractor role is fully remote and flexible. Candidates indicate their weekly availability during screening. Compensation is hourly; the project lists pay within a range depending on task and experience.

• Expected minimum commitment: 20+ hours per week
• Pay: $10–$30 USD per hour (hourly contract)
• Screening will ask how many hours per week you can contribute
