About OpenTrain

OpenTrain is the #1 platform for finding and building careers in AI training and data labeling. We help freelancers discover and grow specialized AI training work, consolidate proof of experience, and turn annotation projects into a durable freelance portfolio.

You will be contracted by OpenTrain to produce language data that helps train next-generation AI systems.

About AI training and this work

AI training (also called data labeling or annotation) is the human side of how modern AI learns: people create, transcribe, translate, and rate real examples so models understand language, tone, and context. This role focuses on multilingual video content that helps models handle Korean and English reliably.

These projects are often remote and flexible, making them a strong option for part-time or freelance work while building demonstrable experience in a fast-growing field.

The role

OpenTrain is hiring a Korean Video Transcription and Translation Expert to transcribe, translate, time-stamp, and evaluate Korean and English video content for AI training. You will preserve grammatical fidelity, speaker intent, emotional nuance, and contextual meaning while meeting agreed timelines.

This is a remote contractor, part-time role working on video data, with label types that include transcription, translation/localization, and evaluation/rating.

  • Data type: Video
  • Label tasks: Transcription, Translation / Localization, Evaluation / Rating
  • Employment: Contractor, Part-time

What you'll do

Deliver accurate, time-stamped transcriptions and translations between Korean and English while preserving tone, nuance, and conceptual depth. Work will include both literal fidelity and culturally appropriate localization when required.

Adapt to project-specific instructions and evolving guidelines; review and correct language structure, grammar, and speaker intent; and contribute consistent, high-quality output on a steady weekly schedule.

  • Transcribe Korean and English video audio with precise time-stamps.
  • Translate Korean↔English, maintaining nuance, terminology, and intent.
  • Annotate speaker tone, emotional cues, and conversational intent with cultural sensitivity.
  • Review and correct grammatical, syntactic, and structural issues across both languages.
  • Support multimedia language tasks and follow evolving project guidelines.
  • Deliver consistent results within agreed timelines; maintain a steady weekly commitment.

Requirements

Candidates must be fluent in spoken and written Korean and English and have experience transcribing, translating, or analyzing bilingual multimedia content. Strong judgment about tone and nuance, attention to grammatical detail, and reliable remote communication are essential.

Availability requirements come from the project details and the additional requirements in the posting.

  • Fluency in Korean and English (written and spoken).
  • Experience transcribing or translating video or multimedia content.
  • Ability to judge tone, emotional nuance, and speaker intent accurately.
  • Strong attention to grammar, syntax, and contextual fidelity.
  • Time management, organization, and dependable remote communication.
  • Availability: minimum 15 hours/week; typical projects expect 20+ hours/week.

Compensation and logistics

Pay is hourly in USD. The posting indicates a pay range and top rate; please review and confirm rates during onboarding.

You will work remotely and be contracted by OpenTrain as a part-time contributor. Project schedules and deadlines vary by assignment; reliable weekly availability is important.

  • Pay: USD $20–$65 per hour (PAY_PER_HOUR).
  • Work setting: Remote, contractor, part-time.
  • Typical time commitment: steady weekly hours; minimum 15 hrs/week; many projects expect 20+ hrs/week.

Helpful background and tools

Preferred but not required: academic background in linguistics, translation, communications, or related fields, and experience with complex language projects or multimedia analysis.

Familiarity with digital transcription tools and localization platforms is useful. OpenTrain will provide project-specific guidelines and quality standards.

  • Helpful: degree or coursework in linguistics, translation, or communications.
  • Helpful: experience with transcription software and localization workflows.
  • Helpful: prior work on nuanced bilingual or multimedia language projects.

Who should apply and next steps

When you apply through OpenTrain, your profile and prior work help you qualify for future projects; contractors are matched to tasks based on skills, availability, and quality.

  • Languages required: Korean (ko), English (en).
