The Role

OpenTrain AI is seeking an experienced Korean-English Localization and Translation Expert based in South Korea. You will review and improve AI-generated outputs using your expertise in Korean localization, translation, linguistic quality assurance, and structured evaluation.

This is an intermediate-level contractor and part-time opportunity paying $27 USD per hour. The expected time commitment is less than 20 hours per week.

What You’ll Do

You will assess AI outputs for accuracy, clarity, reasoning quality, and adherence to prompts and project guidelines. Your work will combine detailed linguistic review with consistent, defensible quality decisions.

You will also identify issues, fact-check details when needed, produce high-quality corrected outputs and explanations or model answers, and compare multiple responses using structured evaluation criteria.

  • Review Korean-English and localized AI-generated content
  • Evaluate accuracy, clarity, reasoning quality, and prompt adherence
  • Apply LQA and MQM error typologies
  • Make severity and category decisions consistently
  • Identify linguistic and methodology issues
  • Fact-check units, names, references, and dates using reliable sources
  • Write corrected outputs, explanations, and model answers
  • Rate and rank multiple AI responses
  • Apply terminology, style guide, CAT, and QA workflows

Requirements

This role is designed for an experienced language professional who can make rigorous editorial and evaluation decisions in both Korean and English. You should be comfortable documenting the reasoning behind your judgments and maintaining consistency across structured guidelines.

Prior experience in AI data training, annotation, or evaluation is preferred, but the core requirements center on professional translation and localization expertise.

  • Currently based in South Korea
  • Native or near-native Korean proficiency for the South Korea locale
  • Strong professional Korean writing and editing skills
  • C1 or higher English reading and writing proficiency
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Translation, Linguistics, Localization, Communications, or a related field
  • At least 5 years of professional localization or translation experience
  • Experience with multilingual localization is preferred
  • Demonstrated MQM or LQA experience, including severity and category decisions
  • Proficiency with CAT tools and QA workflows
  • Experience with translation memories, termbases, automated checks, and structured guidelines
