The Role

OpenTrain is seeking a Korean Audio Transcription and Alignment Auditor to review speech data used in AI training. You will compare Korean recordings with prepared transcriptions, apply defined error codes, make pass or fail judgments, and explain your decisions clearly in English.

The work emphasizes careful, standards-based review rather than volume. You will also inspect word-level alignment to confirm that timestamps match the beginning and end of each spoken word and that the reference text reflects the recording.

What You’ll Do

You will listen closely to human or agent speech and assess whether the written annotation accurately represents what was said. Your reviews must distinguish clear annotation errors from genuine acoustic ambiguity and apply the project rubric consistently.

• Compare Korean audio recordings with prepared transcriptions
• Apply every relevant error code and identify critical errors first
• Issue pass or fail judgments with concise written rationales in English
• Check word-level start and end timestamps against the audio
• Correct inaccurate timestamp boundaries
• Split or merge segments when needed
• Add missing word segments and remove segments containing no word
• Complete a short calibration phase before production review

Required Qualifications

You should be a native or near-native Korean speaker from South Korea, supported by upbringing in the region or at least five years of residence there while fully fluent. Strong English reading and writing are required because audit rules, error codes, and review rationales are provided and written in English.

• Native or near-native Korean spoken in South Korea
• Strong English reading and writing
• Accurate Korean transcription and word-boundary listening judgment
• Ability to distinguish similar sounds and word boundaries in continuous speech
• Consistent application of written error codes and pass or fail rubrics
• Ability to explain audio-audit decisions clearly in English

Helpful Background

Prior experience is not required for this entry-level opportunity, but related experience can help you succeed. Background in transcription, subtitling, localization, linguistic annotation, or quality assurance is valuable. Familiarity with AI data annotation, model evaluation, phonetics, linguistics, audio editing, or waveform tools is also helpful.
