About AI Training and Speech Data Work

AI training is the human work behind artificial intelligence. People prepare and review examples such as audio transcripts so AI systems can better understand speech, language, and real-world recordings. This role contributes directly to the quality of Korean speech data used in AI development.

  • Work with Korean recordings and speech data
  • Help improve the accuracy and reliability of AI systems
  • Build practical experience in a growing technology field

The Role

OpenTrain AI is seeking a native Korean transcription contributor currently located in South Korea. You will listen to short Korean recordings and produce clean, standardized transcripts that reflect exactly what was said—not translations or creative writing.

This is long-term, ongoing contractor work with a steady workload of approximately one hour per day, Monday through Friday. You can complete tasks at a time that works for you each day while maintaining the required daily cadence.

  • Location: South Korea only
  • Experience level: Entry level
  • Time commitment: Approximately one hour per day, Monday through Friday
  • Expected duration: 12 months or longer
  • Schedule: Flexible daily schedule
  • Pay: $14 USD per hour
  • Engagement: Part-time contractor

What You'll Do

You will transcribe Korean audio accurately and apply predefined platform conventions consistently. Because recordings may be imperfect, the role also involves making careful listening judgments and identifying audio that cannot be confidently understood.

  • Listen to short Korean recordings
  • Create accurate, standardized Korean transcripts
  • Complete listening-based verification steps
  • Flag unclear or unusable audio
  • Mark segments that cannot be confidently understood
  • Distinguish minor mispronunciations from clearly different words
  • Follow detailed rules without improvising
  • Prioritize consistency and accuracy over speed

Requirements

This role requires native-level Korean language ability, excellent written accuracy, and strong listening skills. You should be comfortable applying strict guidelines and making careful decisions when audio quality or pronunciation is challenging.

  • Native Korean speaker currently located in South Korea
  • Excellent Korean spelling, spacing, punctuation, and standard writing conventions
  • Strong listening comprehension and attention to detail
  • Ability to handle imperfect audio appropriately
  • Ability to follow detailed transcription and labeling guidelines
  • Reliable internet connection and a computer suitable for web-based tools
  • Quality headphones and access to a quiet working environment
  • Willingness to complete a short Korean transcription screening sample before starting

Preferred Experience

Prior experience is helpful but not required for this entry-level opportunity. Experience working with speech data or quality checks can help you apply transcription conventions confidently.

  • Transcription experience
  • Captioning or subtitling experience
  • Speech data labeling or quality assurance experience

How to Get Started

Create a free OpenTrain account and apply for the role. Before beginning, you will be asked to complete a short Korean transcription screening sample to demonstrate accurate listening, writing, and guideline-following skills.

  • Complete the Korean transcription screening sample
  • Use web-based tools to complete approved audio tasks
  • Maintain the expected weekday workload for the long-term engagement
