The Role

OpenTrain AI is seeking Intermediate German Transcription Experts for remote contractor projects focused on improving and evaluating language technologies. You will use strong German listening and writing skills to create accurate transcriptions and linguistic annotations from spoken audio.

No prior experience working with AI is required. The most important qualifications are German proficiency, excellent listening comprehension, careful attention to detail, and the ability to follow detailed project instructions.

What You'll Do

You will transform German speech into reliable text and structured language data. Your work will support the development and evaluation of next-generation AI systems while preserving the meaning, context, and linguistic nuances of each recording.

You will also review your work for accuracy and consistency, identify difficult audio content, and provide feedback that may improve transcription workflows, guidelines, and quality standards.

  • Listen to German audio recordings and accurately transcribe spoken content.
  • Ensure transcripts faithfully reflect the original meaning, context, and linguistic nuances.
  • Review and edit transcripts using established linguistic, formatting, and stylistic guidelines.
  • Add speaker identification, timestamps, contextual cues, and other required metadata.
  • Identify and resolve unclear or ambiguous audio content when possible.
  • Perform quality assurance checks for accuracy, consistency, and completeness.
  • Follow project-specific transcription and annotation guidelines precisely.
  • Maintain confidentiality and handle project-related data securely.

Requirements and Preferred Qualifications

This role requires speech data and language technology subject matter expertise, as well as comfort working in German and fluent English proficiency. Candidates should be able to work independently in a remote environment and consistently deliver accurate work.

Previous experience in transcription, linguistics, translation, language annotation, or another language-focused field is preferred. Familiarity with speaker labeling, timestamping, linguistic annotation, metadata practices, and audio playback or transcription tools is an advantage.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in German and fluent English.
