The Role

OpenTrain is seeking a German Speech Data Annotation Expert to support German audio collection, speech annotation, and language-output evaluation. You will apply native German fluency, phonetic knowledge, and sensitivity to regional accents to improve language understanding and pronunciation in advanced AI systems.

This contractor role combines hands-on audio contribution with careful linguistic review and written documentation. It is listed as entry level, and prior AI experience is not required.

• Employment type: Part-time contractor
• Time requirement: 20+ hours per week
• Work location: Worldwide, remote
• Advertised pay: $30–$65 per hour

What You'll Do

You will contribute to speech data workflows while maintaining consistent quality across assigned tasks. Clear observations, precise judgments, and dependable communication will help ensure that German speech data is useful for AI model development.

• Record clear, high-quality German audio samples
• Annotate speech data using precise linguistic and phonetic judgments
• Contribute to German speech data collection workflows
• Evaluate AI-generated language outputs for pronunciation and language understanding
• Provide actionable feedback on AI language outputs
• Apply knowledge of German phonetics, pronunciation, regional accents, and linguistic nuances

Required Skills and Experience

Native German fluency is required, along with deep familiarity with regional accents and language nuances. You should understand German phonetics, pronunciation, and core linguistic principles, and be comfortable with speech data collection, annotation, and quality-focused documentation.
