The Role

OpenTrain is recruiting a German Quality Assurance Lead to oversee quality, consistency, and trainer performance across German AI training projects. In this hourly remote contractor role, you will review AI-generated German content and trainer QA work, evaluate output against project guidelines, provide precise written feedback, and help maintain documentation, onboarding materials, and quality workflows for remote teams.

What You'll Do

You will combine detailed German-language review with practical quality leadership. The role includes identifying recurring issues, supporting trainers and QAs, and keeping project guidance organized and actionable.

• Review German AI training content and trainer QA work for accuracy, fluency, grammar, spelling, tone, cultural appropriateness, meaning preservation, instruction-following, formatting, and rubric adherence.
• Identify recurring quality issues, escalate critical problems, and help improve workflow consistency across German-language projects.
• Communicate updates to trainers and QAs, answer questions about wording and localization, and support activation and follow-up for contributors who are not working consistently.
• Create and maintain style guides, trackers, FAQs, quality notes, examples, honeypots, and onboarding materials.
• Schedule and run onboarding and training calls, then help align contributors on project expectations and German-specific quality standards.

Required Qualifications

This role requires strong German language judgment, clear English communication, and the ability to work carefully within documented quality processes. A background in language, content, education, or AI-focused review is relevant.

• Native or near-native German proficiency with strong reading and writing ability.
• Strong English skills for following project guidelines and giving clear written feedback.
• Background in German writing, editing, translation, localization, content QA, AI training, education, or annotation.
• Strong understanding of German grammar, spelling, tone, register, business writing norms, and cultural context.
• Comfort working in remote collaboration tools and maintaining organized quality documentation.

Helpful Background

The following experience is helpful for this assignment, particularly when working across German-language audiences and distributed contributor teams.

• Experience with written German usage differences across Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.
• Experience leading or supporting remote teams of trainers, annotators, reviewers, editors, or QAs.
• Experience with prompt and response evaluation or rubric-based large language model quality assurance.
