About AI Training and Localization Work

AI training is the human side of building artificial intelligence. Contributors write examples, review model outputs, rank responses, and identify problems so AI systems can become more accurate, useful, clear, and culturally appropriate.

In this role, your German localization expertise will help evaluate language quality and teach models how to respond naturally in Germany-specific contexts. The work combines translation judgment, structured evaluation, fact-checking, and human feedback.

  • Contribute to the development of cutting-edge AI systems
  • Work remotely with a flexible contractor schedule
  • Use professional language and localization expertise in an emerging field

The Role

OpenTrain is recruiting Germany-based contractors for a German localization and AI response evaluation role. You will create German-language content and review AI-generated responses across varied subject areas, assessing correctness, reasoning quality, clarity, terminology, tone, cultural nuance, and prompt adherence.

The opportunity is fully remote, hourly, and part time, with a time requirement of 20 or more hours per week. The advertised rate is up to $50 per hour. The project is listed as entry level, while the role requirements call for at least five years of professional localization or translation experience.

  • Location: Germany
  • Languages: German and English
  • Work arrangement: Fully remote contractor
  • Schedule: 20+ hours per week
  • Pay: Up to $50 per hour
  • Employment type: Part-time contract

What You’ll Do

You will create detailed prompts and German responses for AI training, then evaluate and rank model-generated answers. Your reviews will cover linguistic quality as well as the accuracy, logic, methodology, and reliability of each response.

You will apply German locale conventions, terminology management, style guidance, and linguistic quality assurance practices consistently. You will also test outputs for inaccuracies, unsupported claims, bias, and changes in meaning or certainty.

  • Write detailed prompts and German responses across varied subject areas
  • Evaluate and rank responses for accuracy, fluency, relevance, and prompt adherence
  • Review step-by-step reasoning for methodological, logical, or conceptual errors
  • Write clear explanations and model solutions that demonstrate correct methods
  • Apply Germany-specific terminology, tone, cultural nuance, and style conventions
  • Fact-check names, dates, units, references, claims, and reasoning quality
  • Identify bias, unsupported content, inaccuracies, and shifts in meaning or certainty
  • Document findings and maintain dependable throughput while working remotely

Requirements

This role requires native or near-native German proficiency and strong command of Germany-specific localization conventions. You must also have at least C1 English proficiency to interpret prompts, source material, and evaluation guidance.

Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree or higher in German translation, linguistics, localization, communications, or a related discipline, along with at least five years of professional localization or translation experience. Previous AI data training, annotation, or evaluation experience is preferred.

  • Native or near-native German proficiency
  • C1 or higher English proficiency
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant discipline
  • At least five years of professional localization or translation experience
  • Practical knowledge of MQM and LQA concepts
  • Ability to classify severity, category, and root cause consistently
  • Proficiency with CAT tools, translation memory, termbases, and automated checks
  • Excellent editorial judgment for register, tone, inclusivity, nuance, and consistency
  • Strong fact-checking, documentation, responsiveness, and remote-work reliability

Why This Work Matters
