The Role

OpenTrain is seeking experienced German Language Transcription Experts for a project focused on optimizing and advancing language technologies. You will work with German audio and transcripts, applying careful judgment to preserve the original meaning, tone, and context.

This is a remote, project-based contractor role expected to last 1 to 3 months. The expected commitment is at least 20 hours per week, with compensation of $10 to $25 per hour.

What You'll Do

You will produce accurate German transcripts and support the quality and consistency of language data used in AI training. The work requires close listening, careful editing, and the ability to apply project-specific guidelines precisely.

You may also collaborate with project stakeholders to resolve unclear content and provide feedback that improves transcription processes, workflows, and quality standards.

  • Listen to and accurately transcribe German audio
  • Preserve the source audio's meaning, tone, and context
  • Review and edit transcripts for grammar, linguistic accuracy, and style
  • Add speaker identification, timestamps, context cues, and other requested metadata
  • Perform quality assurance checks for accuracy and consistency

Requirements and Qualifications

This role is designed for people with strong German language expertise and meticulous attention to detail. Native-level German proficiency is required, along with the ability to recognize regional dialects, idioms, and other linguistic variations.

Candidates should be comfortable working in German and have native or bilingual English proficiency. Prior AI experience is not required, but experience in transcription, linguistics, translation, or another language-focused role is expected.
