The Role

OpenTrain AI is seeking a French Language Expert to review AI-generated French responses, create expert language content, and evaluate reasoning quality, clarity, and adherence to prompt instructions. You will identify errors in logic, meaning, methodology, and conceptual understanding, fact-check information when needed, and write explanations and revisions that demonstrate the correct method.

This is hourly remote contractor work for French language experts who can provide precise, actionable feedback in a model-evaluation setting. The role is part-time and listed at an entry level, with a commitment of 20 or more hours per week.

What You'll Do

You will assess French-language model outputs and help create training examples that reflect accurate, natural, and contextually appropriate communication. Your feedback should be specific enough to guide meaningful model improvement.

• Review AI-generated French responses for accuracy, clarity, and prompt adherence
• Generate expert French language content when needed to support AI learning
• Identify reasoning errors, meaning drift, locale inconsistencies, and subtle language issues
• Write clear explanations and model revisions that demonstrate correct methods
• Rate and compare multiple AI responses based on correctness and naturalness
• Apply French grammar, agreement, tense, mood, semantics, pragmatics, register, style, and punctuation standards

Requirements

Applicants should be native or near-native French writers with strong written English and advanced command of French language quality standards. The work requires careful judgment, strong written explanations, and comfort evaluating nuanced differences between AI responses.

• Native or near-native French proficiency with strong written English
• Bachelor's degree or higher in Linguistics, French, Translation and Localization, Communications, or a related field
• Strong command of French grammar, agreement, tense and mood, semantics, pragmatics, and discourse-level editing
• High attention to detail when checking terminology, formality, and locale consistency
• Ability to judge French pragmatics, register, and locale consistency
• Comfort working in an hourly, remote contractor workflow across time zones
• Experience reviewing or editing AI-generated French text for accuracy and naturalness
• Experience in AI data training, annotation, editorial QA, translation or localization QA, or professional editing is strongly preferred
• Ability to explain corrections clearly in written English
