The Role

OpenTrain is recruiting a French Audio Transcript Editor to review, clean up, and correct audio transcripts for AI training. You will listen to French recordings, compare them with existing transcripts, and ensure that every word, timestamp, and formatting detail is accurate.

This role includes task-based assignments completed independently on a flexible, fully remote schedule. You will work with annotation platforms and transcript editing tools to deliver polished output.

What You’ll Do

You will edit and evaluate French audio transcripts according to detailed project standards. The work requires strong concentration, careful listening, and consistent application of formatting and style rules.

• Listen to French audio recordings and compare them with existing transcripts.
• Correct spelling, word choice, punctuation, and speaker attribution errors.
• Ensure word-level accuracy and precise timing alignment throughout each transcript.
• Apply detailed style and formatting guidelines consistently across assignments.
• Flag unclear or ambiguous audio segments and document them according to project standards.
• Use annotation platforms and transcript editing tools to deliver polished output.
• Complete task-based assignments independently on your own schedule.

Required Skills

You should be a native or near-native French speaker with an excellent ear for spoken French across accents, registers, and speaking speeds, including Belgian French varieties. Strong listening comprehension is important, even when recordings contain challenging audio quality or overlapping speakers.

• Exceptionally detail-oriented and able to catch small errors
• Comfortable working with word-level accuracy and exact transcript timing

Helpful Background

Prior experience is helpful but not required for this entry-level opportunity. Backgrounds involving transcription, language, media, or editorial quality can provide a strong foundation for the work.

• Transcriptionist, court reporter, or stenographer experience
• Subtitle editing, closed-captioning, or media localization experience
• Training or experience in linguistics, phonetics, or language sciences
• Knowledge of Belgian or European French language contexts
• Experience with annotation platforms, data-labeling tools, or transcript editing software
• Familiarity with Belgian French and other French-speaking regional accents and dialects
• Experience in translation, proofreading, or editorial quality assurance
