CNC Machinist AI Training Specialist

The work

You will contribute CNC machining knowledge to AI training projects focused on real production processes, tooling, setup decisions, and quality control. The role values machining expertise rather than previous AI experience.

You will work with both hobbyist machines, such as the Makera Carvera, and industrial equipment, such as the Haas VF-2. The work includes production setup, part inspection, process troubleshooting, and feedback on manufacturability.

• Set up and operate hobbyist and industrial CNC machines.
• Load and verify CNC programs, install tooling, configure work-holding, and set work offsets.
• Run first-piece cycles and inspect parts against engineering drawings.
• Adjust setups to maintain dimensional accuracy.
• Perform routine maintenance and troubleshoot tool wear, chatter, and dimensional drift.
• Use calipers, micrometers, indicators, and CMM equipment to validate parts.
• Read engineering drawings, GD&T callouts, and manufacturing documentation.
• Work with CAM programmers to improve setups and provide manufacturability feedback.

What it pays and takes

This is a remote, part-time contract role. The listing is marked entry level, but the role itself requires substantial professional experience with CNC setup and production work.

• Pay: $80 to $120 USD per hour.
• Time: 20 or more hours per week.
• Location: Remote and available in the countries listed for this role.
• Language: Strong written and spoken English.
• Experience: At least 5 years of hands-on CNC machining experience, including setup and production.
• Technical skills: Haas controls, including VF-2 or similar platforms.
• Knowledge: Blueprint reading, GD&T interpretation, and advanced measurement tools.
• Materials: Experience machining both metals and plastics.
• Process skills: Troubleshooting machining processes and optimizing setups.
• Helpful background: Experience with desktop CNC platforms such as the Makera Carvera.
