About OpenTrain AI

OpenTrain AI is the #1 platform for finding and building careers in AI training and data labeling. We hire and contract contributors who teach AI systems by preparing, reviewing, and improving the language data these models learn from.

This role is part of OpenTrain AI’s growing network of remote, flexible opportunities — ideal for language professionals who want cutting-edge, impactful work on a contractor basis.

Why AI Training and Localization Matters

AI models learn from examples people create and review. Localization and evaluation shape how models understand and generate culturally and linguistically accurate content in different languages.

Contributors to AI training do remote, flexible work that directly improves real-world AI behavior across search, assistants, content generation, and more.

The Role

As a Senior Chinese (Simplified) Localization AI Content Evaluator at OpenTrain AI, you will compare, rate, and improve AI-generated Chinese and English text to ensure accurate, natural, and culturally appropriate output.

This is a remote, hourly contractor role expected to run 20+ hours per week (part-time). Compensation is hourly in USD, targeted at $20/hr (range $17–$23/hr).

What You’ll Do

Your day-to-day work focuses on evaluating AI-generated responses and creating language-focused content that improves model performance and localization quality.

  • Review AI-generated Chinese (Simplified) and English text for accuracy, clarity, and adherence to prompts.
  • Evaluate quality of reasoning and step-by-step solutions in model outputs.
  • Provide detailed, actionable feedback and corrections to improve translations and localized phrasing.
  • Fact-check claims and references using reliable sources according to established guidelines.
  • Compare and rate alternative model outputs to guide model improvements (label types: EVALUATION_RATING, TEXT_GENERATION).

Requirements

You must meet the role’s language, education, and experience standards and be comfortable working in QA and localization tool environments.

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Translation, Linguistics, Localization, Communications, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of professional localization or translation experience.
  • Native or near-native proficiency in Chinese (Simplified).
  • English proficiency at a minimum of C1 (reading and writing).
  • Proven expertise with MQM/LQA concepts and localization QA methodologies.
  • Proficiency with CAT tools and QA workflows.
  • Strong editorial judgment and excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to fact-check content using reliable sources.
  • Availability for 20+ hours per week as a contractor.

Who Should Apply

This role is a fit for experienced translators, localization engineers, linguistic QA specialists, or senior language editors who want to apply their skills to AI training.

  • Localization professionals with deep experience in Chinese (Simplified) and English.
  • Candidates familiar with MQM/LQA, terminology management, and CAT-tool workflows.
  • Editors who enjoy detailed, example-driven feedback and fact-checking.
